But now for the hair on his face - and it's not quite so flattering.
The heart-throb was seen sporting a bushy caterpillar of a moustache while filming last week, inviting comparisons with fictional football coach and Magnum star Tom Selleck.
Turner, 39, adopted the hirsute look for his role as a fiery TV presenter in the Disney+ adaptation of Jilly Cooper ‘bonkbuster' Rivals, which is set in 1986. 
The shoot, at Chavenage House in the Cotswolds, marked a return to familiar territory for Turner, as the imposing house was also used as the location of the Poldark family pile, Trenwith, in the BBC drama.

An onlooker said: ‘Aidan was back on his old stomping ground.

He looked like he was having a great time driving a vintage Mini Clubman Estate around the grounds. It was a really cold day but that didn't stop some of his fans from turning up to watch. They were thrilled when he went to speak to them.' 
Turner's character in Rivals, Declan O'Hara, is married to Maud, played by fellow Irish actor Victoria Smurfit.
She was spotted on set wearing a skimpy blue party dress - as well as a fleece to protect against the elements when the cameras weren't rolling.
Also cast in the show are Alex Hassell as the dashing ex-Olympian and roguish Tory MP Rupert Campbell-Black, and David Tennant as his ambitious and egotistical neighbour Lord Tony Baddingham.
