WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item upgrades has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as valuable for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be visited at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item, however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to level up weapons and tools, armor and other accessories. They can be bought by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool or armor. button, which displays a preview of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current level of the item. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items being upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades are acquired via several methods, which is both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade item system. Crests

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it brings some changes to the process of upgrading. For example, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests in a wise manner, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance it's best to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment you have, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan on making. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
