The XL Air is a very impressive buggy. It's easy to comprehend why it has received such high marks from customers. It's incredibly light - the chassis and wheels weigh just 6.5kg - and it's also extremely simple to put together. In fact, I was able to get the whole thing up and running in less than five minutes, which is pretty impressive considering it included attaching the fabric for the carrycot!

The seat is large and comfortable for Annie, who is just 12 months old. The recline lever was easy to use. There's plenty of room in the basket and I am awestruck by the fact that it has a zip-up compartment in the handle bar so that you can keep your keys and phone secure!

The only downside is that the handlebar is quite low, which could be an issue for parents who are taller. It's covered with soft, supple leather-like material, and is easy to clean.

The Runner is for parents who like to explore and are always on the move. Its large pneumatic wheels were designed to be used on field and forest paths, and the front wheel can be rotated and locked for additional versatility. The stroller also features five-point safety harnesses with a front bar to keep your child safe on every trip. The parking brake will keep the stroller stationary while you take a rest. The seat can be adjusted to lay down and the canopy can be opened to allow maximum air circulation on hot days. The handle can be adjusted by more than 30 centimeters to accommodate dad or mum's heights.

The Runner will accompany you on all your adventures whether it's a short walk, a longer hike or a long-distance trek. It comes with a lay-flat seat and suspension air wheels for smooth and comfortable riding. The front 3 wheel running stroller can be locked for greater stability on narrow streets or overcrowded sidewalks. The stroller can also fold up to fit in car boot spaces or storage areas.

Some parents have reported that the Runner 2 to be a little more difficult to navigate than its predecessor and the locking system is less user-friendly (requiring two buttons on either side of the push bar). The handlebar is a little higher than some competitors', so it might not suit shorter parents however, overall it's a sturdy and versatile stroller that is worth considering for active families.

The Pace is another great offering from Red Kite, an affordable British brand which is known for its simple and well-designed essentials for parenting. It's the latest - and priciest - addition to their bargain lightweight stroller range and, like the Ickle Bubba Aurora and Yoyo it's car seat-compatible which means you can use it from the beginning (the carrycot folds away).

The new Pace boasts some fantastic design elements, like the rose gold hue to the hood, chassis and stroller trims that really set it apart from its rivals. The grey, tan and cream fabrics in the stroller and the car seat are stylish and there is an option to add the leather handle for the cover and bumper bar too.

It's suitable from birth to a maximum weight of 22kg and the stroller seat can easily be converted from the carrycot to the 2-in-1 reversible mode. It can be parent-facing or world-facing. The stroller seat has various lie-back positions, softly padded legs rests and an extendable sun canopy with concealed zip sections with a view-through flap, and retractable visor.

When folded, the Pace measures 56 33cm x 43cm x 32cm which allows it to be used as hand luggage on Easyjet and Ryanair. Two buttons on either side are easy use and click to lock it in place.

Bugaboo Fox 5

Bugaboo's Fox 5 is designed to be the ultimate all-terrain stroller. Its unique chassis, coupled with a shorter wheel-distance makes it more maneuverable than its predecessor. I tested it with my two children one of whom is eight weeks old and the other toddler - on rough pavements, grassy wooded walks and even cobblestones.

The large puncture-proof wheels, which measure 22cm or 30cm in diameter are able to handle different terrains. The wheels have a flap that can be closed or opened to let more air in when required. It's a little larger than other pushchairs, but doesn't feel heavy or bulky when you push it over bumpy surfaces.

The seat fabric is machine washable, and the frame and faux leather grips are easy to clean. It's also much quieter than many pushchairs and I felt confident using it in busy city streets. It has built-in accessory points so you can attach parasols and footmuffs and also changing bags or snack trays, and even snack tray. You can also use the hood to block rain and wind, though it's not waterproof. The single pram can be fitted with the Comfort 3 wheeled pushchair board (not included), which gives your child more leg room. The bassinet took around 20 minutes to set up and a similar time to convert it into a seat.

UPPAbaby Ridge
