World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses, such as crit chance and PvE damage.

If the weapon's upgrade template is in %, the weapon will gain 3% of its previous attack damage each time it is upgraded.

Item upgrading costs crests and the current level of the item. The cost rises with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons, and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra effect while they're in use. These can be obtained by making crafts, buying from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on equipment with a slot. The item must be upgraded to a blue level before the component can be used. In contrast to other mods components can only be used one time; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a kind of upgrade item component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascending equipment, as in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it is applied to (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions using the smallest amount of Upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level using standard methods.

A 'boost upgrade' can alter the attack or defense attributes of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by buying them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals per.

The player can get the maximum of five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will appear at the time of the next reset. This gives players the opportunity to upgrade their equipment even if they are unsure how much it can be improved upon the reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be costly, and it is possible that the item upgrader will become obsolete or even break in the event that the upgrade item is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items to increase or even eliminate the chances of failure, as well as some upgrades that provide a bonus when reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Each Glyph has a specific range of values that it can improve a statistic by. The value is displayed when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a different Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will boost the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the numerous Glyphs, and there are some rare Glyphs that can be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Leveling

The item upgrading system allows players to improve the stats of specific items by putting upgraded components into them. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with an amount that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled until they reach a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each level of an item requires a different number of components to reach, and the upgrade costs increase as the item gets leveled up.

Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or bought from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns a number of Technology Points. These points can be used to level up the item, and once enough points are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When the player upgrades an item it is replaced with a new item of the same kind. This means that the same armor piece will become an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item comes with its own set bonus. This could be a disadvantage since the item may be more expensive even if you do not require it.

If the player has enough tokens they can reroll item upgrades. The item will be replaced by a brand new one that has a base of level 1 and completely different bonuses. This can be beneficial however it should not be used frequently as it could waste resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled many times which increases their value and allows the player to modify their gear. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or is able to swim like dolphins). The item can be upgraded several times and increases the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. Requirements

If an item upgrader does not upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally, the item will lose any gained bonuses such as crit chance and attack damage, as well as all additional effects associated with that effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or speed of reload). The player is able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

Whenever an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest.
