The Band Toto Asia

Toto was expanding its production facilities overseas and was doing business in France, Germany, Indonesia, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the People's Republic of China. Toto saw North America as a growth market for Washlet's bidets and toilets, as opposed to its "base" markets of Japan and China.

Dhaniram Toto documented Toto words so that the next generation could read them. Many words were substituted with foreign ones. For instance dui, which is Bengali for verandah, 첫가입 꽁머니 was being used.

Origins

Incorporated in 1917, Toto's beginnings mirrored Japan's development. In the beginning, 안전놀이터 추천 Toto produced products to meet the demands for modern, brand new urban housing. To achieve this, it employed the first tunnel kiln in the country to make ceramics in a continuous flow. Before the formation of Toto the members of the band did session work for various musicians. They also performed on albums by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.

Discography

It is common for a group with a name such as Asia to be a prog rock band however it's actually a pretty straightforward rock band. The group was formed as a four-piece and released two albums that were self-titled in 1979 and 1980's Armed to the Teeth. The group has a diverse musical background but their biggest success was in 1982 with Toto IV.

The album was a massive blockbuster but not without its difficulties. The record companies placed the band under pressure to release an album that was a success or they would rescind them. Luckily for Toto, they did with the assistance of the smash single "Africa."

Toto's musical mastery is a result of their prior experience. Before forming the group, members worked as session musicians for artists like Boz Scaggs. Steely Dan and Seals and Crofts. Their sonic trademark has become the standard for the '80s, and has influenced many contemporary artists.

The album begins hard with songs like Running Out of Time or Unknown Soldier that show the band's ability to create great AOR songs that slowly sink into your head. The album also contains jazzier, slower tracks like The Little Things and Chinatown. The album closes with Great Expectations. This song mixes folk and the distorted AOR, which should seem like a complete blunder, but is very effective.

After Toto IV, the band's fortunes began to decline. David Hungate left to concentrate on his solo career and the band went through numerous drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball was fired from the group in the aftermath of drug-related charges. However, the group continued to perform as a trio with Michael Porcaro and Steve Lukather.

Despite the chaos, Toto forged ahead and released Isolation that was not as successful as IV. The band 안전놀이터 managed to release an album that was chart-topping, Kingdom of Desire, in 1992. This album marked the end of the original Toto lineup and was the first album to feature the new singer, Simon Phillips.

The band has performed across the world to a global audience of millions, and has sold-out shows across Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia and New Zealand. The band has a vast repertoire, and its catalog has been listened to more than one billion times on streaming services across the world. The band's music has been influential to many generations of fans.

Steve Lukather has forged a rich, deep friendship with Joe Williams that is flourishing professionally all over the world. In 2018 the duo celebrated their 40th anniversary of Tours Around the Sun with a wildly successful tour across the globe. The album with the same name landed at 5 on the Billboard 200. The new tour by the band includes their best hits and rarely played live deep cuts, alongside some of the songs from Lukather and Williams their individual catalogs.

Line-up

Turn Back, the band's third studio album is a return to a classic sextet structure, and a more consistent, stronger effort with a harder edge. The edgier sound of Turn Back reflected the growth of the band. Drummer Bobby Kimball's increased ability to play was evident in the vocal delivery of Joseph Williams, 첫가입 꽁머니 who had grown more confident and mature. David Paich's keyboard playing was also sharper, more complex and less akin to previous recordings.

After touring to promote their album, the group recorded the band's Amsterdam live show which was released on Eagle Records as a 2-CD set entitled Falling In Between. A new studio album was released just a few months later and the band embarked on a world-wide tour to promote the album. In this time keyboardist Greg Phillinganes replaced Paich and bassist David Hungate quit the group to spend time with his family.

In 1998, Paich and Lukather started searching through old tapes and demos for a new album featuring songs that were never recorded before. The album was released as a double-album titled Then & Now in 2001. It was the band's first album without one single track titled "A". The album also included a previously unreleased track titled "Kari-Anne".

By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The group's fourth record, Old Is New was not a commercial success and vocalist Williams was suffering from laryngitis, which affected his singing abilities. Hungate also returned to Nashville and Leland Sklar's drumming duties were replaced by Shem Von Schroeck.

Downes along with the other original members of Asia - Wetton, Palmer, and Howe--convened an event in England in the early part of 2006 to discuss the possibility of officially reforming the group. The lineup, which was minus Howe (who was working with Yes at the time), eventually became known as Toto XIV and toured extensively.

In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The band also featured an appearance by singer Michael McDonald, and a backing singer named Mabvuto Carpenter.
