WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor using the help of The button will show a preview of an item's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It can also be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.

This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests only have one use, so it's important to use them wisely. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the Best item upgrade gear that you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to avail the discount for all accounts when all slots are full of high-quality gear.
