UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors are worn out over time and need to be replaced. It is essential to match the dimensions of the old handles when replacing them.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle or lever is a modern-day door handle designed to suit new or replacement double glazing handles doors. This type of handle is available in many designs and finishes. A variety of manufacturers provide this type of handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

The door handles of uPVC/Composite are constructed of durable materials and are ideal for doors with multi-point locks that require a strong design. The handles are inline and work off the same spindle and screw fixings so they can be easily fitted to doors made of uPVC/Composite, either new or old.

The handle can be adjusted and angled to suit any user. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles, this helps to ensure the quality of the finish as well as the performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever can also be cut to fit the widest range of locks. This is particularly beneficial in doors with smaller door frames in which the cylinder is further back. A shortened lever is also a good choice for doors where the latch could be activated by the thumb turn located on the inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad upvc door handle operates differently to the lever type handles on doors. These handle types are either operated by one spindle, or two spindles inline or offset. They are typically employed on UPVC double-glazed doors and are available in a variety of variations and finishes.

The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200,000 cycles and are available in various finishes, including White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This gives the handle an outstanding performance and long-lasting durability for its intended use.

All of the UPVC lever pad styles for handles come with a spindle and screws, allowing them to be put on a new or existing uPVC door. The backplate fixation centres of 211mm allow for a bigger handle, which is usually an advantage when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. The levers for these handles have springs, which can solve the problem of door handles that move out of the horizontal position when not in use.

It is essential to match up the PZ dimensions of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when choosing the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is also referred to as the "handle centre" or "cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect to match the correct window handles for Upvc.

After you have identified the correct size of PZ and the correct PZ size, you must ensure that the lever and push pads are designed to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles for doors you require for your door. These are typically a square or round shape, with an internal lever as well as an external push pad.

Most of the UPVC lever pads that we offer are sprung, which means that they will return to their horizontal position when not in use, rather than hanging out and possibly securing in the frame. This stops draughts and cold air from entering a home. It is also the case that the majority of UPVC lever pad handles are swivel which allows you to place them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks can be found on uPVC and other types of doors. They operate with a key to unlock a cylinder that is then revealed with pins that can be aligned with those inside the lock body, permitting them to turn the cam, thereby opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins, with both internal and external doors generally needing different levels of security.

The choice of the correct cylinder is vitally important; this is dependent on how your doors and handle are utilized. External doors, for instance, should be fitted with higher security cylinders while internal doors can be secured using a standard cylinder. Certain cylinders are equipped with additional features that increase security, for instance, anti drill or anti bump properties.

A euro cylinder must be properly measured to ensure it's the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn if there is one. It is best to do this with the lock in place however in the event that this is not feasible, you can take it off and remove it to take measurements. A cylinder that protrudes beyond the handle and escutcheon might be vulnerable to attacks, such as snapping locks, therefore it is crucial that it's not too long.

The design of most newer cylinders comes with anti-drilling as well as bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce attacks by forcing cylinders to rotate in a different direction. This will help to prevent attacks and protect your doors.

Some cylinders are designed to withstand snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the lock's break line and the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is much quicker and less difficult than opening multipoint locks and leaves no evidence of a break-in, which can impede the insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette sits inside the base of your door handle's backplate providing a sprung solution and returning your multipoint lock handles to their normal position after use. The handles had no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was disconnected. This simple part is the most effective way to address this issue. It also prevents your door from getting stuck in the closed or open position as they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes are specially made for use with multipoint locks sprung They will not work with multipoint handles that are not sprung and you must have a bespoke hole cut into your backplate in order for them to fit (please see image for technical diagram). These cassettes are a solution to damaged or missing cassettes in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are supplied in one unit. They feature a square cut out that is able to accommodate an 8mm shaft.
