WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you an increase in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

Upgraded gear generally sees higher trade value, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item level upgrade but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased from item upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool using a button, which displays a preview of the item at the next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the Best item upgrade and the current item level. For instance weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Crests

It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. For instance, it's Best item upgrade to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top gear you have available and save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character that will be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all slots are full of high-quality equipment.
