WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item level upgrade (this content) will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items which can be used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which displays an item's preview at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item upgrade has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.

Upgraders for items can be found in a variety of locations on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade items recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require various methods which is both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. After the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same Best item upgrader level will cost less. This is even if those items come from an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is account-wide. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have a variety of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the type or equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing content at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulties to get lower-level gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it does bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, once an item is at the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to get their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another significant modification is that crests have one purpose and it's crucial to use them wisely. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
