In this video Charles the Humble Mechanic demonstrates how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. This sensor is located near the edges of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a signal to the ECU via an uncolored wire (T55/49) which is then sent to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The sensor is located at the edge of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear, the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends signals to ECU pin T55/49 using an uncolored wire. The ECU uses this information to regulate the amount of fuel and boost. It also sends an alert to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to correlate with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu has to know when the crankshaft has reached TDC and also the position of the camshaft, to trigger the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails the ECU will show a P00160 code which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync, possibly indicating chain stretch or a jumped link on the upper chain of timing. However, the error code won't appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

Testing is a bit tricky since there are two connector pins, and they serve different purposes but the best method of testing it is by measuring resistance between the sensor and the ECU. It should read about 1000 ohms if the sensor is at full operation. If you're having issues with this sensor, look for signs of oil or coolant in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday accelerating full speed from highway paytoll i had a big cut in power like the engine is out of gas or the injectors are not firing anymore. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning, three were drenched in gasoline and the 4th was dry. When I crank the engine with no sparks i put tissue on the top of each hole in the injector and the 3 drenched with gazoline pop out, but the 4th stays shut. I checked the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55,30/55 and 48/55 I get zero ohm. I think the issue is in another location.

I also tried to reset the PID but without success. The audi car key cover can start when the G28 is disconnected and runs fine when it is connected but it still is experiencing intermittent misfires at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for the coolant (G62) shows the wrong temp value -49c even when i unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar but the actual pressure is zero.

I'm not sure what to do. I feel like i've pretty much ruled everything else out. But i am afraid I might have missed something. If anyone has any ideas please share them! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump of the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sensor is identical to the G4 and they both work in the 80 100, 200, UrS and RS2 cars which is why you can easily locate one at a salvage yard or from a parts store. It is simple to test them to do - just put your DMM in resistance mode and measure the resistance between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector's side up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black connector's end). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY) engines needs to be aware of the speed and position of the crankshaft to make decisions regarding timing of fuel injectors, etc. It makes use of a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If you have a problem with either one of these, the diagnostic scanner will show codes that could cause an engine shut down.

Some of the signs of a malfunctioning G28 sensor are an inaccurate rev counter for the gearbox the gears are shifting faster than normal and/or misfiring when in gear. If you experience any of these issues it is likely that your sensor is going bad and requires audi replacement car keys. They're inexpensive and easy to locate, especially in the case of an Bosch model like ours. If you prefer, GM's version of this part would be an excellent choice.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine speed sensor could be a cause for a slew of issues in your vehicle. It's an essential component of the transmission of your audi a1 car key, as it transmits information to the ECU on how fast or slow the engine is turning. This sensor could cause the transmission to malfunction and other components of the Car Key Replacement audi to be affected.

The G5 engine sensor is located at the outskirts of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. It sends signals via an uncolored wire to the ECU pin T55/49. The ECU then uses and processes this signal to regulate fuel, timig and boost as well as sends it on to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can test for sensor failure by checking continuity from the sensor to the tachometer. Also, you can check continuity between pin T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79trace [79]), and between pin T6a/1 as well as pin T26a/12. There should be an average resistance of 1000 ohms between these two points. This is a common part that is found across the audi key fob replacement 80 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC until the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU, so the best ones might be availble in wrecking yards.
