Fernando Acosta began his career at Unilever as an employee trainee. He has worked in the United Kingdom and Europe. In the past, he held high-level positions within Unilever's Latin American operations.

He was the Category President for Latin America at Unilever from 1999 to 2004. He was responsible for overseeing Dove one of the most well-known brands in the company. In addition he was also involved in the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty which was a global campaign that launched innovative products such as Pro Age.

After his time as a senior vice-president for Unilever's Middle Americas business, he assumed a more global role. He was Brand President of Dove Global at Unilever from 2006 to 2008. At the period, he was located in New York.

He was previously the Regional President for Latin America at Avon. His responsibility included driving sales and developing the brand's Latin American strategy. He also helped develop innovative product lines like Pro Age.
