Best Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos

The best way to keep your home clean is to use a robot vacuum. It will remove dust, pet hair and other debris from the surface before it becomes a bigger problem.

Some robots connect to smart assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant for a hands-free experience. Find models that recharge and resume cleaning where they left off.

1. iRobot s8

This smart robot vacuum and mop is an excellent option for homes with a variety of. It features a superb navigation system with GPS and laser sensors. It also comes with many features and control options that can be accessed through the app. It also has a handy feature that lets you create cleaning zones in areas that require more attention, and Keep Out zones in areas that you don't wish it to go. It also gets software updates, like all Roomba products, that enhance it over time.

It's expensive but it's also one of the most advanced robot vacuums that ZDNet has evaluated. It has a powerful battery that can clean the entire house in less than two hours. It also switches between mopping and vacuuming with the touch of the button. And unlike other self-emptying robotics that require you to empty the bin after each run, this one automatically emptys into a larger waste container above its charging dock.

It also comes with a variety of other options, like intelligent obstacle avoidance which uses a camera along with processor-powered smarts in order to identify obstacles. It is rarely derailed or stuck during a cleaning cycle. In my tests, it was the best in avoiding objects such as power cables. However, it isn't as reliable at detecting pet waste or other hazards.

2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8

Although Anker-owned Eufy has earned a name for itself in low-cost robot vacuums it's never offered an all-in-one model that could also mop. That's changed with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive set of modern features that can compete against much more expensive models.

The most significant selling point for Eufy with this machine is its laser navigation. Previous Eufy devices have built up an outline of your home by using infrared sensors and bumping into objects, but the X8's laser mapping technology is far more precise. It also takes a lot less time to build up an accurate picture of your home and can store multiple maps, which is great for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is a decent vacuum cleaner for floors with no dust. It can easily sling debris under the side brushes and into the 400ml dustbin. Its tyres are also very adept at hugging corners and edges despite being circular. Our tests showed that it could only remove 90 percent of the fur on hard floors.

The mopping mode that is the basic one uses the same reservoir of water as the vacuuming mode. While this is great for loose spills however, you aren't able to limit the amount of water it is using and this will reduce its effectiveness when dealing with more severe stains. It does, however, do an excellent job of picking up pet hair, with a higher pickup rate than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is known for its quiet, powerful appliances. It has a beautiful design, a great navigation system and a powerful cleaning power. However, it does have some operational issues that keep it from ranking as the top overall smart robot vacuum.

Like iRobot's latest models like the RX2 has a dual-sensor mapping system which uses an LIDAR sensor to map an area and three 3D scanning cameras to identify and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real time. Once mapped the app allows you to create virtual no-go zones as well as areas that you want to clean. will clean automatically. You can also change the cleaning modes, start a manual clean or watch live feeds from the cameras onboard from the main screen.

The RX2 is equipped with excellent sensors that detect furniture and other obstructions in a flash. Its sweeping and suction powers are excellent, taking away surface debris from carpets of medium pile and also removing dust that has been deposited on floors. It's not the most powerful robot on the market. As with many others, it's not a good climber and is prone to problems with things like thresholds made of metal transition strips.

Some people buy robot vacuums because of the ease of setting up a schedule in an app, only to forget about them for weeks. However, it's essential that a machine can get the job done and that's the reason why our ZDNet staff looked over and tested a number of the most popular ones to help you find the right one for your home.

4. Shark ION

This budget robovac is a robot that looks just like the other, but it has a few more features and is more efficient. Its smart mapping system creates 3D and 2-D maps of your home and uses them to navigate around and stay clear of obstructions. It's even able to spot common obstacles such as power cords and furniture legs in real-time. This combination of sensors along with a bump sensor and an infrared sensor heavy Duty for dropping that keeps it off stairs is what makes it one of the most agile vacs we've tried.

It was able to climb over thick shag carpets and did not get stuck (unlike the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690-). Its navigation abilities were impressive as well; its composite score in carpet and bare floors topped the competition. It took in 98.5 percent of the surface pet hair and litter from our lab test samples.

The controls are more basic than those of the competition's. There's a clean button at the top and you can start it using the app or via voice commands using Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule daily or weekly cleanings, designate no-go zones and view the history of cleaning. Ion is clad in a smart dark gray plastic that is both attractive and beautiful in your home. Its rear dust bin is easy to empty and cleaning the filter is the same.

5. Eufy 11S

Eufy 11S is a great option if you're looking for a robot vacuum that's simple and has no frills at a cost that is low. It's not equipped with some advanced features like Alexa integration and digital mapping found in higher-end models. However, if you don't require these features, you could save money.

The robot is easy to install and use. It does not require a smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However, it does come with an remote control that allows you to choose between different modes and alter the suction level. You can also manually set the robotvac to the schedule of cleaning.

During our tests, we found that the 11S was extremely effective at cleaning dirt and fur from carpets and floors with low pile. Its slim profile made it easier to get under furniture and other items that some of the larger robots could not reach. It was able to go effortlessly over door thresholds and transition from one type of floor to another.

The 11S, like other robots, can also eat some objects, such as cords and cat toys. The manufacturer suggests that you can stop this by keeping such objects off the floor and by using a cord organizer if possible. It also recommends that you clean the dustbin, change the filters and clean or change the brushes as necessary.

6. IRobot Roomba 980

The Roomba 980 is the flagship robot vacuum. It's pricey, but it's also the best buy robot vacuum robot vacuum that you can buy. Its self-navigation as well as environmental mapping are a joy to behold. It is more sophisticated in its automation than its competitors, including the ability to create virtual boundary markers using its mobile app. Although its app is a little sluggish and the 980 can spin out a bit while crossing cables, it's a very capable robot vacuum.

One thing we love about the 980 is the fact that it utilizes its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors as well as visual simultaneous localisation and mapping technology (or vSLAM) to remember the floor plan of your home. It will then use this information to design an efficient and consistent cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a more efficient robot vacuum than most high-end robots.

Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes which grab dirt from hard floors and carpets and a spinning brush to sweep debris into the robotic vacuum’s bin. The floor tracking sensor assists in navigating between furniture, along edges and up the stairs. Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from falling. It can also return automatically to the base station for easy recharging in between sessions. The bin capacity and heavy Duty battery life of the 980 aren't as good as some other robot vacuums. However, it's a solid and reliable machine that can keep floors clean for many hours.
