World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also increase bonuses like PvE damage and crit chance.

For example, a weapon with the upgrade template that is ending in % will take on 3% attack damage every time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the item's current level. The cost rises with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, armor, and weapons to give them a stat boost or add a bonus effect. These can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to equipment with a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to blue level before the component can be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and Enrichments are kind of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascending equipment, as in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it is used on (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of the equipment using the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than would be required to reach the same level of upgrade using normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defense attributes of the weapon or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist These upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or purchasing them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.

The player is able to have up to five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of the item will appear in the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their gear even in the event that they don't know what will be improved after an update.

The process of upgrading an item could be expensive and it's possible that the item will be obsolete, or even break, when the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items that can double or even eliminate the chances of failure, as well as some upgrades that provide the benefit of being reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

When an item is upgraded by a player to a higher level, the original item is replaced by a new item of the same type. This means that the same armor piece will become the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item will have a unique bonus. This could be a drawback, as it can make the item more expensive if you don't require it.

If the player has enough tokens they can roll the upgrade of their item. The item will be replaced by an entirely new item upgrader mod that has a level 1 basis and completely different bonuses. This can be useful however it shouldn't be done often as it could waste resources.

If an item is not upgraded, the experience bar in its growth bar will reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it gained like crit chance damage to attack, additional effects (such as a higher healing rate over time or reloading speed). The player is able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item upgrading is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to the highest. This means that if a weapon gains a crit chance increase that it will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. Slots is a new attribute that has been added to item definitions. The value is calculated every time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading equipment that is not premium is equal to its base value. For example, a common item might have five upgrades at a cost. 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will come with an incredibly lower cost for each upgrade.

Premium items could have different upgrade requirements from normal equipment. For example they may require fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. However, players will need to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade.
