BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost uses CAN data bus for communication with your vehicle. This stops thieves from replacing the ECU or installing a new lock to bypass the security system.

The PIN can be between 4 and 20 characters, making it difficult for thieves to figure out.

Service Mode / Valet Mode

If you are parked at home or in a meet and greet situation when you are at a meet and greet, the Ghost can be put into service mode, which allows you to start the car using your keys as normal however it stops the engine from starting again unless the proper code is entered. This is perfect for those who need to hand over their cars to valet services, or trusted family members or friends. This allows you to bring your vehicle to the garage for repairs or repairs, or other maintenance. without worrying that it might be modified by mechanics while you wait.

Anti-Hijack

With the advent of high-tech thieves becoming increasingly and more sophisticated the security technology is continuing to change, that's why Ghost has created this discrete and unobtrusive immobiliser. It's designed to stop thieves from adding keys or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and drive off. Ghost connects to your CAN network and utilizes buttons on your vehicle to create a unique push-sequence that must be entered before the engine can start.

If the anti-hijacking mode has been activated, any attempt to restart the engine will be stopped. The system will sharpen the horn and flash the indicators. It will also stall the vehicle in the event that the code cannot be found. The Anti-Hijack feature is disabled by entering your push sequence, or by enabling service mode, which allows your car to temporarily begin and drive, without having to enter your PIN.

If you have a GPS device that is connected to your BMW, you can make use of it to disable the Anti-Hijack function to allow you to use your navigation system when the vehicle is parked. You can also track your vehicle on the map in real-time using your smartphone.

The Ghost can be positioned under the dashboard or inside the center console. It is completely secure and untouchable and does not require any extra wiring. The device is connected to the vehicle's CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a unique PIN code is inserted into it. The pin code must be entered prior to the engine starting. This prevents thieves from bypassing the system with a cloned or replaced ECU.

If the vehicle is stolen, the Ghost will enter a security mode that disables all functions until the PIN code is entered or you can make use of the mobile app to disable it. This is a feature that was designed to protect your vehicle from high tech criminals who are using relay boxes to steal your car. It will even stop the thieves from using their mobile phones to activate your sat nav or mp3 player to locate your vehicle!

Ghost also stops "Relay Style Frequency Amplification". This is the most common method of stealing a vehicle with a keyfob that's been duplicated or stolen through hacking. Ghost allows you to prevent this from happening by installing a device known as Secure-A Key inside your vehicle. The device is installed inside the key-fob of your vehicle and then will disconnect the battery after a few minutes of inactivity. This can be done on most modern PKE key-fobs.
