The unit is a square-front design which allows it to be closer to walls and corners than previous round designs. This model doesn't work well with high-pile or shag carpeting.

During our testing during our testing, we discovered that the iRobot S9+ cleans thoroughly and efficiently on a variety of flooring surfaces, ranging from medium-pile to hard carpets and robot Vacuum & Mop rugs. It also performed well on tiles, vinyl flooring, and laminate flooring. It also did a great job of maneuvering between furniture and objects although it did struggle with stairs, and can crash into objects like bookcases.

We liked the feature that the S9 automatically returns to its base to empty its dust bin when it's full, which significantly reduces the need for hands-on maintenance. The dust bin should last for about 30 loads or a month and half. It's recommended to replace the filter periodically (as suggested by iRobot). Our experience suggests that the iRobot S9+ doesn't get very loud during operation which makes it a good choice for people who live with kids or pets.

Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid

Robot vacuum cleaners are designed to take care of the dirty work for you, and they can clean carpet and hardwood floors. The best ones are monitored and controlled via apps for smartphones and some include mopping technology for bathroom and kitchen floors. They're a great choice for busy families, and they are becoming more affordable. If you want top-of-the-line features on your robotic cleaner, you'll have to spend a bit more.

The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid vacuum and mopping machine is an excellent choice for people who live in a multi-floored home. The vacuum's 0.6l bin can hold a large amount of pet hair. Its dual motors provide impressive cleaning power. The dust bin is easy to remove and emptied, which is great because you'll have to do this frequently.

It's simple to set up as well, but I do recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid before running it for the first time. You'll need to install the Eufy Home app and Robot Vacuum & Mop follow the instructions for connecting to your Wi-Fi network. The app will assist you create a map of your home. You can name rooms and divide large spaces into smaller rooms (good for open-plan living) and direct the X8 Hybrid to specific areas that need cleaning at a given time. There are many other robots that offer similar mapping and scanning functions, but Eufy's application is more refined and user-friendly than other models.

One of the great features of the X8 Hybrid is that you can start the mop or vacuum using your voice, thanks to integration with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. This is a great feature that makes the robot more hands-free. It worked well in our test house.

The X8 Hybrid, like many robotic vacuums, has issues with bare flooring. It is prone to miss pet hair and other small items, and it tends to bump into things - such as its own charger on the base of its charging. It's also not as quiet as some other models we've tested, and the whirring sound can be distracting.

Roborock V3S Pro

The robot doesn't have as many features as some of the more expensive models we tested but it does come with the essentials. It has a huge enough dust bin to hold plenty of dirt before it's empty and its mop and vacuum system works great on both carpets with low pile and hard floors. It's also extremely quiet. We were able watch TV while it cleaned without feeling as though we were being constantly bombarded by noise.

Our testers loved how easy it was to set up and use, and were amazed by its ability to take all the mess out of their flooring. It was successful in cleaning pet hair, messes and carpeting, but it was more difficult in getting rid of stains that were stubborn. They found the app user-friendly and easy to use, and were able to program the vacuum to clean regularly to reduce the amount they had to do manually. The one downside is that it does not have any mapping technology or object avoidance technology, so you can't send it to specific rooms or follow virtual boundaries (though magnetic boundary strips are compatible).

Another model from irobot vacuum mop combo's affordable line which is the V3S Pro has some impressive features for its price. It topped all other robotic vacuums in our tests when it comes to mapping and avoiding obstacles, and is the ideal budget option for those who are looking for a smarter self-emptying robot vacuum that can handle pet hair and messes on carpeting and hardwood floors. It's also very quiet and comes with a massive dust bin that holds a lot of debris before it has to empty and you don't have to worry about regularly emptying it.

The V3S Pro did not make it onto our top choice lists from trusted sources who conduct hands-on tests, however it received high marks from Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews and The Ambient. They were impressed with the ease of setup and use, however they did note that its battery life is very short and it was unable to avoid some of the most stubborn messes we put it through.

The Q Revo's suction capacity of 5500Pa is sufficient to remove dust specks and pet hair while mopping. And the all-rubber brush is perfect for dissolving human and animal hair and adapting to uneven surfaces.

Its only drawback is that it can take an extended time to fill and empty the water tanks that are clean and dirty. You can reduce this frequency by using the auto-empty feature, which will empty the bin on its own after a few days. There isn't an automatic reminder to verify the level of water in the dock.
