What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob

It's not difficult to replace the battery on the key fob of your Nissan. It might seem daunting at first but you'll get knack of it in no time.

Smart Keys Keys

Intelligent Key Fobs have an antenna in them that transmits the signal to your vehicle every time you press a button or approach it. Once your vehicle receives this signal, it will activate the system, opening or locking doors, starting the engine, and opening the trunk. To test the fob out take a step back from your vehicle and press on the buttons. If the lights flash, or the horn sounds, then you have successfully programmed the Intelligent Key Fob.

To do this, simply remove the key that is hidden and then open the battery compartment of your key fob. Remove the battery that was in it, then put a new one in its place. Assure that the positive side of the new battery is facing in the same direction it did with the previous one. Finally, close the battery compartment and return the key to its hidden location within the case.

Remote Start

Nissan remote start is a feature that permits drivers to heat up or cool their vehicle from outside the vehicle, if they're within operating range. Lockout protection prevents lockouts caused by impedance malfunctions. A specific module within the power control unit is able to monitor for the activity of the impedance relay, and then shuts off the output. This feature is only available on vehicles that have the Smart Key system or through the personalization menu for the vehicle.

Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) is a method to ensure that machines remain off until a person with authorization releases them, helps to prevent these kinds of accidents.

The LOTO system is comprised of a number of locks, tags, and other devices to secure, isolate or shut off a device from an electric source. All "affected" and "authorized" personnel are required to be trained in the use of these lockout/tag-out devices. These devices include, but are not limited, to locks, chains and padlocks. Each device is singularly identified and labeled, including the date and time of its application and the name of the person authorized and the reason for the tag-out or lockout (repair, maintenance, etc).
