BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost utilizes the data bus CAN to communicate with your vehicle. This stops thieves adding keys or replacing the ECU to get around your security system because it requires a valid PIN code to begin the engine.

The Ghost is different from other immobilisers as it doesn't use key fobs or LED indicators. It uses the buttons on your vehicle to let you enter a unique disarming sequence that only you know.

Stop & Start

If you've ever driven a brand new BMW or utilized the stop start feature, you may have noticed that after stopping the engine will continue to run for about 30 seconds after you release the brake pedal. This is due to the BMW engine management system continuing to monitor your vehicle for signals from the ignition key, and if it is detected, it will continue to run. Our BMW ghost immobiliser, a next-generation device, does not require you to cut OEM wires or to add key fobs or alarms from the aftermarket. It is hooked up to your BMW's CAN network and is programmed with an encrypted, secure PIN code that can be accessed using buttons installed in your car. This allows you to enter a specific key push sequence that isn't found in the normal menus for media, like volume up/down and source, cruise control or aircon on, which prevents your car from starting unless the sequence is entered. The PIN can range between 4 and 20 numbers and is therefore difficult for thieves to determine or break.

We can also add a service/valet mode. This is activated while your vehicle is being maintained so that the Ghost is kept from view by the garage. You can activate this by pressing the service button 5 times on your infotainment system (the system will flash in confirmation) and the Ghost will automatically rearm when you return.

Ghost immobilisers are highly recommended for top-of-the-line automobiles. It is completely undetectable, doesn't require cutting any original factory wires, and can disable your cars engine when an incorrect pin code is entered. Service / Valet Mode

The Ghost is the most effective immobiliser on the market. It prevents your vehicle from being stolen by hacking or key cloning. It makes use of the factory buttons of your vehicle to create an individual push sequence that only you can identify. This is similar to pin code security for your mobile phone. It's discreet, incredibly effective and can deter even the most obstinate thieves!

If you are parked at home or in a meet and greet situation, the Ghost can be set to service mode. This allows you to start the vehicle using your keys but prevents the engine from restarting until the correct code has been entered. This is great for customers who must give their vehicles to valet service companies, or trusted family members and friends. It also lets you bring the vehicle into the garage for repairs, maintenance etc without having to worry about it getting damaged or stolen by a mechanic while you wait.

When the service/valet mode is activated when the service/valet mode is enabled, your BMW will not be able to drive after it is started. This prevents anyone else from driving it while you're away. Once you return it will revert back to normal driving, stopping your car from being damaged or stolen again.

We can mount the Ghost to any BMW, all you need is the correct keys as it doesn't require the original remotes and can be used with them. We can also supply an optional Bluetooth tag that can be used to disable the Ghost through an app on your smartphone (IOS and Android) or if you don't have a smartphone or aren't familiar with it just press the emergency card one time. This is an extra cost and requires a different Bluetooth pairing.

Anti-Hijack

With the advent of high-tech thieves becoming increasingly advanced, the security technology is continuing to evolve, this is why Ghost has developed this discreet and non-obtrusive immobiliser. It is designed to prevent thieves from adding a new key or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and then drive it away. Ghost is connected to your CAN network and utilizes buttons on your vehicle to generate an individual push-sequence that has to be entered before the engine can begin.

When the anti-hijacking feature is activated and the engine is restarted, any attempt to restart the engine will be thwarted. Once the system detects that the vehicle has stopped moving it will honk the horn and flash the indicators, if it is unable to identify the correct code it will also stall the engine (where possible). The Anti-Hijack feature is disabled by entering your push sequence or by entering service mode which allows your car to temporarily begin and drive, without having to enter your PIN.

If you own a GPS device that is connected to your BMW, you can make use of it to disable the Anti-Hijack function to allow you to use your navigation system while the vehicle is stationary. You can also use your smartphone to control the anti theft feature and other functions.

Remote Control

We can connect the ghost 2 immobiliser installation (read the article) device with your mobile app to enable remote control of keyless start and go functions. This is helpful if you are other than home and valet or mechanic needs to start your vehicle. The system allows you to turn the vehicle on, select drive and exit service mode without needing your key fobs. You can also track your vehicle on a map in real-time on your smartphone.

The Ghost can be installed in the dashboard area, or in the center console. It is completely concealed and tamper-proof. It does not need any additional wiring. The device is connected to the CAN Data Network of the vehicle (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a personalised pin code is programmed in it. This pin code must be selected before the vehicle is started. This prevents thieves from using a cloned key or replacing the ECU to disable this system.

If your vehicle is stolen the Ghost will go into service mode and shut down all functions unless you have a PIN code or can use the mobile application to disarm it. This is a feature that was designed to protect your vehicle from high tech thieves who are using relay boxes to steal your vehicle. It will even stop the thieves from using their mobile phone to turn on your sat-nav or MP3 player to locate your vehicle!

Ghost also stops "Relay Style Frequency Amplification". This is the most typical method of preventing a vehicle from being stolen using a key fob that has been copied or stolen by hacking. Ghost can help you prevent this kind of theft by installing a device called Secure-A Key in your vehicle. The device is inserted into your vehicle's key-fob and disconnects the battery after a short period of inactivity. This can be done on the majority of modern PKE key-fobs.
