The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with the all the features you'd expect from a fridge in this price range with Wi-Fi and app support via GE's SmartHQ software. The app, which is available for iOS and Android devices can let you control your fridge from anywhere in world, and has a ton of customization options. It will also send notifications when the door is unlocked as well as when the fridge or freezer needs to be defrosted, and when the filter requires a change.

It would be nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS had Precise Fill which is an option that is available in a handful of other GE fridges that allow you to choose how many cups of water you'd like to dispense simultaneously. It does have a countdown on the fridge display to show how much water you have remaining, but that's not as helpful as Precise fill.

The doors are another problem with this refrigerator. The handles with a sunken design allow smaller people to open them from the bottom. However taller people have a difficult time closing them without slamming them. It would have been better if they had front-mounted handle.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a ideal option for those looking to combine the benefits of a French-door fridge's aesthetics with an efficient layout. Its capacity is above average for a counter-depth model, and it cools evenly and has a great layout. It's also a bit less than the best counter-depth refrigerator that has an ice maker, which can make it an attractive option.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

If you're looking for a French door fridge that doesn't cost a fortune, this Frigidaire is a good choice. It's a basic design that isn't as striking visually as some of the competition, but it has enough features to make it a solid pick. Its main feature is the temperature adjustable drawer that helps keep food items like veggies and meat fresher for longer. It also has a large water dispenser and a decent ice machine that works fast.

The "Chill Drawer", which is located over the two crisper bins, is another nice feature. In my tests, the temperature of the refrigerator stayed fairly consistent across different areas of the refrigerator. Temperatures at the top and bottom of the fridge didn't stray very far from 38 degrees, and even the middle of the fridge was within one degree of 36. This is a great performance, but it doesn't quite be among the top in our ratings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also combine this fridge with a smart thermometer for more precise measurements of the internal temperature of your fridge.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's exterior is constructed of grey-bodied stainless steel which has a "smudge-proof" finish. It repels fingerprints and streaks better than other stainless steel finishes I've seen.
