WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be visited anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current item level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item level upgrade upgraders for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool or armor. button, which will show an item upgrade's preview when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade items cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.

Upgraders for items are available in a variety of locations on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting the latest recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no item upgrader available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3 the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with some new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will cost less even if they belong to an entirely different set of gear.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available after certain milestones have been reached.

Crests

When upgrading equipment in WoW players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are an item upgrader kit that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that the crests can only be purchased for equipment of a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests depending on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through content at the appropriate level. This could be done by engaging in outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulty levels to obtain equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons that have a high difficulty for gear in the endgame. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The use of these currencies isn't that difficult however, the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. For instance it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the Best item upgrade gear you have available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to create. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
