The IQ's app comes with advanced mapping and automation features however, it's not able to access no-go zones that are available on iRobot models. Its intelligent-pathing navigational system gives you greater maneuverability, and its high-pile carpet cleaning mode cleans well, but it does have a tendency to get caught up on rug tassels, and its iHome speaker allows you to control the robot with voice commands.

During our tests, the IQ was adept at handling pet hair effectively, clearing an impressive amount of debris from floors that were not bare and fair amounts of medium-pile carpet. It was less efficient on shag carpets, where it struggled to get at dirt and dust that was embedded in the fibers. It was able to navigate the legs of a chair, tiny spaces as well as the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was a little slower on floors that were not paved, but it regained speed and performed better than the other robots we tested.

The IQ is a better choice over the iRobot Roomba 694 for most applications. It has a larger dustbin and lasts longer on a charge, and is capable of maneuvering itself around obstacles.
