Although the iRobot Home app is very user-friendly however we've found it be less reliable than other apps that work with robotic cleaners. It can take a long time to download updates, and sometimes it's difficult to tell whether the update is working until you've seen it in action.

This is a place where most robot vacuums of lower quality aren't able to meet. The technology for navigation in the Q5+ is excellent and has very few missing in corners and along walls.

If you select the Q5+ it comes with a new auto-emptying dock, designed to make the robot easier to maintain. It requires a screwdriver to install, but once in place, emptying the bin is easy. It has a large LCD screen that is very useful for setting up schedules or altering settings. This feature isn't required for everyone, but it can help you easily keep the robot's maintenance schedules.

3. Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra is a well-rounded robot mop and vacuum that's incredibly clever in its vacuuming and mopping capabilities. Its design is one of the best budget robot vacuum in the industry however it's quite expensive.

It is a relatively small base station that looks great and is easily hidden when not in use. The primary selling point of the station is the fact that it automates a variety of tasks, chores and functions that other robots have to leave to you. It can store dirty and clean water, and then electrolyze and heat the water. Many other robots require you to do this.

Its vacuuming is also impressive. It's the only robovac that I've used that has done a good job picking up debris from bare floors. It's also not as loud as the expensive Roomba 900 series or iRobot 980.

The Freo X Ultra is not free of faults, especially in the area of navigation. Its laser and LiDAR sensors aren't as reliable as other robovacs, meaning it sometimes gets stuck or confused in certain areas of the home. It's also unable to climb stairs like other models and doesn't come with a docking station to create a cleaning area for carpets with plush padding.

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is an excellent choice for those who want a vacuum robot vac that can do it all.

If you're looking to save money or aren't concerned about the limitations of the robot, there are plenty of alternatives available. A lot of eufy models are considerably less. The Eufy Qrevo Curv, for example is less expensive and offers a similar in-app experience with additional features such as the ability to climb stairs, a full-function dock, and better overall performance when vacuuming floors as well as high and low-pile carpets.
