However, unlike the i7+ or other top rated robots we evaluated the i3+ does not have a feature for avoiding obstacles which means it can get stuck on things such as socks or power cords, and it can have difficulty in navigating through transitions between surfaces like from hardwood to rug.

iRobot suggests cleaning the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other items it might encounter. You should also keep the dustbin and filter clear to avoid becoming clogged. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or the battery is low, it returns to its docking station, automatically empties its trash into the station's external dustbin and then resumes cleaning the area where it started. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes about three hours to fully recharge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model of the flagship line from iRobot and comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and the most important feature of all -- it has self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ can make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can control your robot via the app or voice.

In our tests the i7+ performed quicker and more maneuverable than our runner-up which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces kinds including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also awestruck by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot on how to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions as well as move around the room, and vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. After connecting we were able to give the i7+ voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." It's capable of sucking up a variety of kinds of debris in our tests, and it often passes over the same areas several times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach the corners and edges of walls.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models such as our top choices such as the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It may get stuck on phone cords or furniture and will often run out of power before returning to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects because it has fewer components that need regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and is better at moving itself. In our testing, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86% of it. It did not do well in avoiding taller objects like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than some of the other models we tried and could be a deterrent for some shoppers.

The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that you can access via the app, and you can also set up a live streaming from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you check in on pets or kids when you're away from home. The dustbin and filter can be washed for quick, easy cleanup.
