The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of a room.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxy units this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our tests. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in mornings prior to work or in the evening when you're trying to sleep.

It's also a bit costly, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some extra cost it's a capable two-in-one that should delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop [please click the following post] with a variety of sophisticated features to help you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the automatic vacuum and mop robot's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive competitors. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to create the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
