The S1 performed admirably in cleaning hard floors. Its mop moved smoothly on its flat side and swung up when it came to carpets or rug.

Prior to each mopping session the docking station of the S1 automatically emptys its trash bin and refills the water tank onboard with clean ozonated filtered water. The dock adds a deep-cleaning solution for the water. The S1's tank of water holds enough water for around 12 cleaning sessions before it has to be empty, but this can vary based on how often you use the mop.

Like all 2-in-1 robots, the S1 requires periodic maintenance to ensure it is operating well. For this, you'll need to clean the water tank that is dirty regularly to avoid it from clogging. You will also need to clean your swivel wheel and sensors regularly to avoid them becoming blocked by dust or dirt. Overall, the S1 requires less maintenance than other combos.

2. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo Complete

This all-in-one robot vacuum and mop combo from Ecovacs is a powerful option for cleaning needs. The robot vacuum has 8,700Pa suction power and comes with a variety of unique features, including voice control and smart path planning that cleans furniture and avoids obstacles. Its mopping capability is impressive. Rotating mop pads actually lift floors and scrub it instead of just dragging a pad across the surface. The Deebot X2 Combo Complete does excellent job of vacuuming, and has a powerful suction that easily removes all kinds of debris, including the smaller pieces of dust that other robots struggle with. Its navigation abilities are also pretty good, although it can be stuck on small area mats and rugs at my home (which you can alleviate by creating virtual boundaries in the app). Mopping capabilities are quite good, with a pair spinning mop heads that lift and scrub the floor instead of simply dragging the pad across it. The mops can be cleaned with hot water and dried in the basestation when needed. Mops are also refilled from the top of the base station when needed.

3. Dreame X40 Ultra

Dreame's X30 Ultra robot vacuum and mop were released earlier in the year. But their latest flagship model has even more impressive features. It boasts fantastic cleaning results and hands-off maintenance, making it a clear contender for our top mop and vacuum robots. Its superior mapping abilities, RGB AI smart detection, and an expanded side brush ensure a thorough, customized clean is completed.

The X40 Ultra vacuums well, getting rid of both large and fine debris. It works equally well on carpets and hard floors. It was able to clean the dirtiest areas of our tests efficiently while avoiding pet hairs and other messes. The sweeping performance is augmented by an additional side brush that automatically extends to reach hard-to-reach corners, as well as an extended mop pad that can be placed alongside baseboards.

Its navigation system is nimble, navigating small spaces and negotiating stairways without skipping a step.
