Three Wheeled Buggies

Whether you're seeking a buggy to run with or just a nifty stroller to tackle strolls around the neighborhood, three-wheeled buggies provide great mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to manoeuvre even in tight areas.

MFM reviewer Kath tested the buggy with a newborn and 3 year old and found it was able to handle cobbles, grass rough roads, dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath said it felt sturdy to push, and extremely solid on rough terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable and require occasional pumping) have suspension built-in which was extremely comfortable for my children.

The shape and size of the seat is another thing to think about. You will want it to be large enough to accommodate your child's comfort and you will also need it to recline so that they can lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies have a lie-flat option that lets your child face you, whereas others only permit a parent-facing option.

The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road or muddy walks. This buggy can be used as a one-person unit from birth and then adapts to take two children when your family expands. Larger wheels give your buggy more stability while driving on rough terrain. This is especially beneficial for buggies that are off-road. Many three wheeled buggies have swivel front wheels to aid you in maneuvering around corners with ease, whereas others are designed for running and come with fixed front wheels that lock to increase the speed and stability with which they can be driven. This also helps when you crash into the roots of a tree or stray road, as the front wheel will rise up to keep you from hitting it.

Many 3 wheel pushchairs feature air filled tyres which means they can handle different terrains and are much more flexible than 4-wheeler. They're also lighter. However, they're susceptible to punctures so you'll need an repair kit, spare tube and pump handy.

The buggies also have a suspension that, according to Kath "smooths out bumps very effectively".

The downside of having bigger wheels is that they make some buggies quite broad and can struggle to fit through narrow spaces. This can be problematic if you intend to are using it as a jogger or have to squeeze through narrow doorways while on the move. Luckily, most models have compact folding options that let you take off the front wheels to make compact storage.

Easy to Manoeuvre

A three-wheeler can be more maneuverable for a child. They are designed to ensure that the front wheels rotate at a moment's notice, and are easy to move, making them ideal for terrains that are difficult, such as parks, cobblestones as well as bumpy roads and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried the 3 wheeler strollers-wheeler with her toddler. she reported: "The Terrain is a joy to maneuver on rough terrain. The swivel wheel front was particularly helpful." I was also awed by the way it handled kerbs with the hand-operated break. It was extremely stable when in the downhills or on uneven terrain."

The only drawback to this great maneuverability, is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheel pushchair sale-wheel buggy may make it difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is something to be aware of when you live in a city. If this is the case, a 4-wheeled buggy may be the better choice for you.

Kath the MFM reviewer, also loved the roominess of this buggy. There's a huge, easily accessible basket that's quite spacious for a buggy this small and there's an excellent zip-up pouch on the back of the seat unit and two smaller mesh pockets inside the hood to store your phone and keys.
