World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and damage from PvE.

For instance a weapon that has the upgrade template that is ending in % will suffer 3% attack damage every time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

Item upgrading costs crests and the item's current level. The cost increases with the item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into weapons, armor, and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra effect when they're used. They can be obtained through making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to equipment with a slot. The item must be upgraded to blue level before a component can be used. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment and some of the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it is used on (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, allowing players create stronger versions with less Upgrade crystals than they require to reach the same level using normal methods.

A boost upgrade can change the attack or defence characteristics of an armored weapon or. These upgrades are available to be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or by buying them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

The player can get a maximum of five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-level version of the item will be available in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue upgrading their gear, even if they're unsure of how much it will improve after a future reset.

The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process could be expensive, and there is a substantial risk that the item upgrader mod may become obsolete or even break if it fails. A failed upgrade will destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items that can double or even eliminate the chance of failure, and a few upgrades that give a bonus when reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to upgrade the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, including any pre-existing attaches. Glyphs can be upgraded in many ways, and we recommend getting them up to level 15 as soon as you can.

You will often find in the endgame that putting Glyphs is the best way to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded to level 15 and provide a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

Glyphs, the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced again are the most commonly used. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.

Each Glyph has a specific range of values that can enhance a stat by, and the value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can choose to replace it with a Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will boost the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

After you have acquired the desired Glyphs you will need them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that can boost the stats of a particular set of nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Glyphs will boost all nodes connected to them, therefore it is Best item upgrade to place Glyphs in strategic locations on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. Druids, for instance, should place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may be able to place them near their most critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The item upgrading system allows players to improve the effectiveness of specific items by putting upgraded components into them. This is commonly known as "upping". Each upgradeable item has an amount that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level of item requires various components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be bought from NPCs, or on the upgrade tab in the crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used for upgrading an item. When enough points have been earned, you will be able to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When the player improves a piece of equipment the original item is replaced by an item that is new. This means that the same armor piece will get an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item comes with its own set bonus. This could be a problem in that it could make the item more expensive if you do not require it.

The upgrades to items can be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens to be able to do this. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it has a level 1 basis and totally different bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, however it's not something that should be performed frequently, since it can use up many resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled several times which increases their value and allows the player to modify their equipment. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or swims like a dolphin). The item upgrader mod can be upgraded many times by increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is extremely valuable in PvP. A properly rolled version can be worth as much as 50x the value of the unupgraded counterpart.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade the level of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets over ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currencies to an NPC who upgrades items. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also boost the defense base of the item upgrade, and upgrading weapons will increase the base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.

Each item can be upgraded up to five times except for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Every time you upgrade an item it has an opportunity to fail. The failure rate increases the more you exceed the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will result in the item reverting back to its original condition, which requires the user to pay more for materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum number of upgrades.

If an item isn't upgraded, the experience bar in its growth bar will reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it earned like the chance to crit damage to attack, other effects (such as an increase in healing over time, or reloading speed). The player is able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

If an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that if a weapon receives a crit chance boost that it will be applied before any damage to attack increases. A new attribute called Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is recomputed each time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The cost for upgrading non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a typical equipment item could have five upgrades at a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will have an incredibly lower cost for each additional upgrade.

Premium items could require different upgrades than standard gear. For instance they may require less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. The player will still need to carry every piece of equipment they wish to upgrade to NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each equipment upgrade will require different amounts of ingredients needed to upgrade, in addition to the cost mentioned above.
