Robots that vacuum and clean offer the convenience of cleaning both dry and wet messes in one time and without the need to switch between devices. They also can save space compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot will offer excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that automatically empty their bin, refill their water tank, and wash their mopping pads with the dock that is specifically designed for them.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has plenty to offer for its affordable price and is among the easiest robots we've tested to set up. Unpacking is easy, and the quick-start guide can get you running in no time. It comes with the complete dust bag, water tank, and a hard floor.

The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that cleans up a mess and vacuums well too. The mops are spun at high speed and use 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to quickly get rid of pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The autonomous vacuum cleaner has four power settings, a variety of brushes and attachments, and an intuitive app that lets you select the type of cleaning you'd like for each room.

For instance, you can, ask the robot to clean the kitchen and living room thoroughly, but leave the spare bedroom alone. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It is able to detect small obstacles that other models cannot. The only drawback is that it is known to smash into walls and objects at a high speed. However an inspection of the history of cleaning on the app will reveal exactly what the robot accomplished, where it's moving, and what obstacles he has run into or avoided.

A handy LCD screen on the docking station informs you when maintenance tasks are required like emptying the debris tray and rinsing its dirty water tank. It also mixes detergent into the water tank automatically, using a 600ml eufy solution.

Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum come with a long-running time. The mop can run for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode and the vacuum can last 136 mins in normal mode, prior to needing to recharge or returning back to the base. You can also view the entire cleaning information in the app, which is well laid out and is easy to comprehend however we would like to be able to distinguish between a vacuum only or mop and vacuum clean when looking at a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's flagship best robot cleaner vacuum and mop, is the newest version. Unlike last year's model this one has an agitator that doubles in its mopping pad, which significantly enhances its carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction power that enables it to remove finer hairs and other debris other robotic cleaners could miss.

This Roborock model, like the other two I tested, has infrared and reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it get around obstacles like walls, furniture and other obstacles. However, the S8 Pro Ultra takes things a step further by adding a dual camera which can detect objects and decide whether they are a wall or another surface. It can then change its direction in a way that is automatic and clean around the objects, without missing a step.

It's the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed but it's also feature-packed. Its sleek and angular design is eye-catching and it only has three physical buttons that include the power button that also resumes cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock; and a home button that can bring the robot back to its dock. The hinged lid can be lifted to reveal 350ml of dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank will empty itself, and the bin is auto-filling.

The only downside I've found with this model is that its VibraRise mop pad mount isn't removable. You can change the mopping cloth if required, but it's a challenge to remove the mount to wash it manually. I've found any plush carpet that the robot crosses will come into contact with the rough Velcro like fastener on mount, which can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a variety of intelligent features including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can configure and manage these via the Roborock app, which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you schedule cleanings and track battery life. However, you'll have to go through a few hoops in order to enable voice control on this model which is a pity considering how well it performs otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop that has outstanding suction power, advanced mowing capabilities, and a variety of innovative features. Its innovative design allows for customised and efficient cleaning while reducing time.

The X40 robot vacuum cleaner is the first to offer 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is one of the most powerful options available. This powerful vacuum is able to clean up pet hair as well as crumbs and other dry debris. It also comes with a top-quality mop that leaves floors spotlessly clean, even with a wet pad. The X40 is also extremely quiet in operation and only occasionally bursting during mode changes or self-maintenance.

Another standout characteristic is the X40's extendable and liftable side brush that allows it to reach difficult-to-access corners and clean curved furniture like table and chairs' legs. The robot mop is also able to reach under furniture that is low-profile which makes it an ideal option for smaller apartments or condos. The side brush automatically swivels downwards when it detects wet spots, which is a nice touch that helps the X40 avoid damaging floors with repeated back-andforth movements.

Unlike some other robots that only focus on one task, the X40 is capable of performing mopping and vacuuming at the same time or in a series. It can also be programmed to skip areas that have carpet and only mop hard floors or reverse the process. It can be controlled via the Dreame app or via Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for smooth voice-controlled operation.

The app is simple to use and understand and the X40 is equipped with many clever features that are simple to install. Users can program the X40 for cleaning at specific times. They can also adjust suction power, alter modes, look at maps and floor plans, and manage mopping setting. The X40 will also track its progress, and alert you when it is finished.

The X40 is easy-to-maintain and offers numerous convenient features, making it an ideal choice for busy families. The docking station can automatically empty the dustbin and wash the mop pads, then refill them with cleaning solution and fresh water. It can also tell when the mop pad is full and alert you before it gets overflowing, reducing the need for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available. It has a number of features that make it stand out. Its mops have a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. It makes use of two mops with high-speed motors to scrub floors more thoroughly than the conventional method, and has an impressive suction power of 7,000Pa. This is higher than Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also remove pet hair, dirt particles, and clean up spills and dirt-stained spots.

The mop is cleaned and dried in the base station each time they are used. This is an excellent feature since it prevents the growth of odours and mould in storage, and also makes mop systems more efficient. This is a system we've yet to see on other robot vacuums and mop models and could be a good method to keep your home clean for longer.

There are a lot of options, including the ability to schedule cleanings and change preferences. They can be set through the app or buttons on the unit itself. The app is simple to use and provides a number of options for customising your cleaning routine. It also offers a number of functions that are not available on other robots, like the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction when it detects any dust particles.

The L20 Ultra has a stylish design with a metallic-white-white finish that looks elegant and sophisticated. It's heavier than some of the other two-in-one robots in this list - at 4kg however it's not overly heavy, and is sturdy and well-built. Mopping is also well-designed and the double-rotating mop works well on hard floors and in corners. The MopExtend feature lets them reach up to 2mm below baseboards.
