1. iRobot S8

This smart robot mop and vacuum is a fantastic choice for many households. It vacuums and mops well, has excellent navigation with both GPS and laser sensors and comes with a variety of controls and features accessible via the app. It also comes with a helpful feature that allows you to add cleaning zones to certain areas that require more attention, as well as Keep Out zones that you don't want it to go. 2. Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid

While Anker-owned Eufy has earned a name for itself in budget robot vacuums, it hasn't previously offered an all-in-one model that could also mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that comes with a variety of modern features and can compete with more expensive models.

Laser navigation is the main selling point of this machine. The previous Eufy devices have created a rough map of your home using infrared sensors and bumping into objects, but the X8's laser mapping technology is far more precise. It takes less time to build an accurate map of your home. It also has the ability to store multiple maps. This is great for multi-floored homes.

The X8 is still a good vacuum on bare floors, slinging debris under its side brushes and into the 400ml dust bin with ease. Its tyres are adept at hugging edges and corners even though they are circular. It's not a great kitty litter picker, though our tests have shown it only removes about 90 percent of the fur from hard floors.

The basic mopping mode uses the same water reservoir as the vacuuming mode. While this is good for spills that aren't too big but you cannot control how much water it uses, which will limit its effectiveness on more severe stains. It does, however, do an excellent job of picking up pet hair, with a higher speed of pickup than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is known for its quiet, effective appliances. It is a stunning design, a great navigation system and an impressive cleaning power. There are a few niggles in its operation that prevent it from being considered the top smart robot vacuum.

Like the latest models from iRobot, the RX2 features dual-sensor mapping that utilizes the LIDAR sensor to map the space and a pair of 3D scanning cameras to detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real time. Once mapped, the app lets you designate virtual no-go zones and preferred areas that the robot will clean automatically. You can also start an automatic clean or manually change the cleaning mode, view a live feed from the cameras onboard and more from the main screen.

The RX2 has excellent sensors that can detect furniture and other obstructions in a flash. Its sweeping and suction power are top of the line and cleans up surface debris from carpets with medium piles and dust in bare floors. It's not the fastest robot available. Like many others it's not a great climber and has trouble with things like thresholds made of metal transition strips.

A lot of people purchase a robotic vacuum robot to enjoy the convenience of setting up a schedule using an app and forgetting about it for weeks at a time. 4. Shark ION

This budget-friendly robovac looks just like a typical robot, but it's an upgrade in terms of performance and features. Its smart mapping system generates 3D and 2D maps of your home, and uses them to navigate around obstacles and avoid them. It can even detect common obstacles like furniture legs and power cords in real-time. This combination of sensors, along with a bump sensor and an infrared sensor for dropping that keeps it from falling down steps, makes it one of the most agile vacuums we've tried.

It was able to climb over carpets with thick shags and was not stuck (unlike the RoboVac 11s, or Roomba 690-). Its navigation capabilities were impressive. Its composite score for carpet and bare flooring was higher than the competition, and it was able to pick up 98.5 percent of the surface litter and embedded dog hair from our lab test samples.

Its controls are a bit more basic than the competition; there's an uniform cleaning button on the top and you can start it from the app or by voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also set a schedule for daily or weekly cleans, set no-go zones, and see the history of its cleaning. In a smart dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and looks attractive in your home. Its rear dustbin is accessible to empty, and the removal of the filters is also easy.

5. Eufy 11S

If you're looking to buy a basic, no-frills robot vacuum for a reasonable cost, the Eufy11S might be your best robot vacuum for dog hair bet. It lacks some of the advanced features, like digital mapping and Alexa integration, which are found in higher-end models but if you don't need these features, you can save a little money by purchasing this model.

The manufacturer suggests that you can prevent this from happening by keeping these items off the ground and using a cord organizer when you can. It also recommends that you clean the dustbin, change the filters, and wash or change the brushes as necessary.

iRobot Roomba 990

It is more sophisticated in its automation than its competitors, including the capability to set up virtual boundary markers with its mobile application. It's a dependable robot vacuum, even if the application is a bit slow and the 980 spins out when it comes across cables.

One thing we love about the 980 is that it makes use of its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors as well as visual simultaneous mapping and localisation technology (or vSLAM) to store the floor plan of your home.
