WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the Item level upgrade is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks to keep your equipment up to date.

The cost of upgrades will be based on the current item upgrading level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. button, which will display a preview of the item upgrader mod at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.

Upgraders for items are available in a variety of locations, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrades upgrader at start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require a variety of means that are both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a specific level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading further items to the same level will cost less even if they are part of an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut also, but is only available when certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a variety of options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that the crests can only be purchased for gear with a certain rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, contingent on the type or gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.

Using these new currencies isn't that difficult, but the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they have only one purpose. For instance it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment you have and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan to create. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
