The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as dirt detector) are a plus.

Make sure you regularly check your robot vacuum cleaner's brushes for hair that is tangled and large particles and wash them if needed. Some models can also automatically empty their dust bin on board into a larger bin in the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great deal for those whose home or office has a lot of bare floors and you want to save money. It's also quiet and operates while you are at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to offer more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum mop cleaner robot/mop to complete an entire home, and it did so with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a great cleaning job on a variety of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was great and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy units of the rivals. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite a noisy unit, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you attempt to sleep.

It's also a bit costly however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and a little more cost it's a capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best automatic vacuum robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of advanced features that help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot vacuum that mops utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also has an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the autonomous vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

For larger homes it's recommended to choose one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home using the app or via voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would think from its price. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or organize the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and a small base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
