Robots that vacuum and clean provide the convenience of cleaning dry and wet messes in one go, without having to switch devices. They can also reduce space in comparison to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot will have impressive navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that have docks that allow them to automatically empty their bins, replenish their water tanks and machine-wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has a lot to offer at a modest price, and it's one of the easiest robots we've tested to set up. Unpacking is easy, and the quick-start guide can get you running in no time with an entire dust bag, water tank, and a hard floor.

The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that mops up a storm and vacuums well too. The mops spin at fast speeds and can apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, which makes short work of pet hair, dirt, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, as well as a selection of brushes and attachments, and an intuitive app which lets you choose the kind of cleaning you want for each room.

You could, for instance, ask the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly, but leave the bedroom to itself. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It is able to recognize small obstacles that other models are unable to. Its only minor issue is that it tends to hit objects and walls at full speed. However, just a glance at the cleaning history within the app will show you exactly what it's doing as well as where it's heading and the obstacles it's run into or avoided.

A handy LCD screen on the docking station informs the maintenance tasks that need to be done including emptying the debris tray and rinsing its dirty water tank. It can also mix detergent automatically into the water tank by using a 600ml bottle filled with Eufy's own solution.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's most popular best robot cleaner mop and vacuum, is the most recent version. In contrast to the model of last year this one has a double agitator in its mopping pad, which greatly improves carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has improved suction power, allowing it to pull up small hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners could miss.

Like the other two Roborock models I've tried it also has a 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to can help it avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things one step further by adding a dual camera which can detect objects and determine whether they're an object that is a wall or a different surface. It is able to change its course automatically and clean around the objects, without missing a step.

It's the most expensive model I've tested and it comes with the most features. Its sleek and angular design is striking and has only three physical buttons: the power button, which can also restart cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock and a home button that can bring the best robot vacuum that mops back to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid reveals the 350ml dust bin as well as a 200ml water tank. The water tank automatically empties and the bin fills up automatically.

The only downside I've discovered with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. Although you can change the mopping cloth (if it's required) however, it's a hassle to remove the mount to wash manually. I've noticed that any carpet that the robot touches will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener on mount, which can cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a range of intelligent features that include support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The Roborock app allows you to manage and set up these advanced features. It also includes maps and advanced mopping options. The app allows you to plan cleanings and monitor the battery's life. You'll need to go through a series of steps to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame, considering the performance otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is an industry leader with cutting-edge features, high suction power and cutting-edge mowing capabilities. Its intelligent design allows you to personalize and efficiently clean while reducing time.

The X40 robot auto vacuum and mop cleaner is the first to feature 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is among the most powerful options available. Additionally, the X40 is quiet in it's operation, producing only occasional squeaks of sound when switching between modes or when completing self-maintenance tasks.

Another notable feature is the X40's expandable and liftable side brush which lets it get into difficult-to-access corners as well as clean furniture, such as tables and chairs' legs. It also lets the robot to get under furniture that is low-profile, making it a great choice for small apartments and condos with tight spaces. The side brush also automatically tilts down when detecting wet spots. This is a nice touch that helps the X40 to avoid causing damage to floors by excessive back-and-forth movements.

In contrast to other robots that only focus on one task, the X40 can perform both vacuuming and mopping simultaneously or separately. It can also be programmed to eliminate areas with carpets and mop only hard floors or vice versa. It can be controlled through the Dreame app or by using Alexa, Siri, and Google Home to ensure a smooth voice-controlled operation.

The app is simple and easy to use and the X40's clever features are easy to set up. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, look at mapping and floor plans, and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also track its progress and notify you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy to maintain and has numerous features which make it a good choice for busy families. Its docking station automatically empties the trash bin into a 3.2 L bin, washes the mop pads, then refills them with clean water and cleaning solution. It also can detect when the mop pad is full and alert you before it overflows, reducing the requirement for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that is among the most expensive models available and comes with a lot of extra features that set it apart. Smart DuoScrub is a brand new feature on its mop, utilizes two mop heads with high-speed motors to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a maximum suction force of 7,000Pa. This is higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also clean pet hair, small dirt particles and remove spills and dirty spots.

Its mops are also dried and cleaned inside the base station after each use. This is an excellent feature since it prevents the build-up of mould and unpleasant odours in storage, and it also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robot vacuums that mop mop or vacuum models. It could be a great method to keep your home clean longer.

There are plenty of options, including the ability to schedule cleanings and change preferences. They can be set through the app or buttons that can be found on the device itself. The app is simple to use and provides a variety of options to customize the cleaning routine, and there are numerous functions that other robots don't have - such as the Clean Genius mode that automatically boosts suction power when it detects dust particles instead of relying on a manual setting.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most elegant robots we've seen on market, with a white and metallic design that is elegant and stylish. It is a little heavier at 4kg than some of the other robots on this list however it's not too heavy. It feels solid and well-constructed. The mopping system is also well designed, and the double rotating mop is a great choice for hard floors or in corners. They can also extend to 2mm baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature, which is a nice feature.
