The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot vacuum cleaner and mop robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as a dirt detectors) are a plus.

Be sure to regularly inspect your robot's brushes for hair that is tangled and large debris and wash them if needed. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin in the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuum that mops vacuums we've examined. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a great deal, especially if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also extremely quiet and works while you are at work or in school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot automatic hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combo utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it will learn the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to remove and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot automatic vacuum cleaner/mop that could complete an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a good job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with different flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming it, something we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the bulky models from the rivals. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit that could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient, but it's more expensive and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and dry mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on how dirty those areas are.

For larger homes it's worth looking for one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home via the app or voice commands. A stair mode can be useful if you own a large furniture. Additionally, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to set up the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. And you can create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive and a small base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
