The right tools are available is critical when on the job. This kit was designed with this in mind and includes all of the basic hand tools needed to repair equipment in the field. The tools are made of steel with the least amount of plastic so that they can withstand use. The kit comes with a zippered canvas pouch for the coalcracker's tools, a reamer, twist awls, cutting shears and gimlets (5MM). It also comes with a bottle of coalcracker oil, a guidebook and a wooden spool a reamer, and twist awl.

Repair Patches

You might want to consider adding adhesive patches to your kit if you've got small holes in your gear. These heavy-duty patches feature high-performance adhesives that are applied to a tough polyurethane back that lets a tear heal under pressure. These patches are available in transparent or colored versions. They are durable against punctures as well as moisture, sunlight, saltwater and pack temperature extremes.

If your kit does not include one of the items mentioned above you might want to consider adding a waterproof Aquaseal wader sealant. This water-tight adhesive can be bonded to fabrics and metals for an unbreakable fix. It's perfect for repairing drysuits and is able to be applied out in the field. Allow the sealant to dry for at least 12 hours prior to applying the repaired gear.

The kit comes with one Clean Tape patch and a sil-nylon repair swatch and a 1/4 ounce tube of Goretex Silfix repair adhesive and sealant, as well as a brush. Apply patch to a clean, flat surface.
