Robots that vacuum and mop offer the convenience of cleaning both dry debris (dust dirt, grit) and wet messes (spills, stains) in one go without the need to switch out devices. They can also help save storage space compared to having two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot should be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacle avoidance. Look for models that have docks that let them automatically empty their bins, replenish their water tanks, and wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has a lot to offer for its affordable price and is one of the most simple robots we've tested to set up. Unpacking is simple and the quick-start manual will have you running in no time. You'll have a an entire dust bag, water tank and hard floor solution.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. The mops are spun at high speed and use 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to quickly remove dirt, pet hair and sticky dried spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, as well as a selection of attachments and brushes and an intuitive app which lets you choose the type of cleaning you'd like for each room.

For instance, you can ask the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly but leave the bedroom in its own space. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It can detect small obstacles that other models are unable to. Its only issue is that it tends to crash into walls and objects at full speed. However an inspection of the cleaning history on the app will show you exactly what the robot vacuum cleaner best has completed, where it's traveling, and what obstacles it has stumbled upon or avoided.

A handy LCD screen on the docking station shows you when maintenance jobs are required including emptying the debris tray, and washing the water tank that is dirty. It's also able to mix detergent automatically into the water tank using a 600ml bottle of the eufy's solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time and the mop is capable of operating for 184 minutes in Quiet mode and the vacuum able to do 136 minutes in normal mode, before having to recharge or return to the base to refill. The app is easy to use and intuitive and lets you view every aspect of the cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's top-of-the-line robot vacuum and mop is the most recent version. The model of this year features two agitators built into its mopping pad. This improves the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction capacity that allows it to pull up finer hairs and other debris other robotic cleaners may miss.

The Roborock model, like the other two I tested, has infrared and reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it get around obstacles like walls, furniture and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things an extra step by incorporating a dual camera that can detect objects and determine whether they are a wall or another surface. It can then automatically change its path and clean around them without skipping a beat.

It's the most expensive model I've tried however it also comes with the most features. Its sleek and angular design is striking and has only three physical buttons which include the power button that also resumes cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock and a home button to send the best robot vacuum cleaner and mop back to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml tank of water. The water tank is self-emptying and the bin auto-refilling.

The only drawback I could find with this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't movable. Although you can change the mopping cloth (if it's required) however, it's a hassle to take off the mount itself to wash manually. I've found any plush carpet that the robot cleaner crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on mounts, which can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features that include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can set up and manage these through the Roborock app which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app also lets you to schedule cleanings, track the life of batteries and maintenance on components. However, you'll have to go through a few hoops to enable voice control with this model which is a pity considering the quality of its performance.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is a leader in the industry with its innovative features, top suction power and advanced mowing abilities. Its intelligent design allows for personalized and efficient cleaning, while saving you time.

The X40 is the first robot vacuum cleaner to deliver 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which easily makes it one of the best robot vacuum cleaner and mop alternatives available. This powerful vacuum can clean up dry mess, including pet hair and dust. It also comes with a high-quality mop that leaves floors sparkling clean, even without a wet pad. In addition, the X40 is extremely quiet during its operation, with only occasional squeaks of sound when switching modes or completing self-maintenance tasks.

Another notable characteristic is the X40's extendable and liftable side brush which allows it to get into hard-to-reach corners and intimately clean furniture, such as tables and chair legs. Contrary to other robots which only focus on one task, the X40 is capable of performing both vacuuming and mopping at the same time or separately. It can be programmed to only mop the hard floors and skip carpeted areas, and reverse the process. It can be controlled through the Dreame app or via Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for a seamless voice-controlled operation.

The app is simple to use and intuitive and the X40 is equipped with many clever features that are easy to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at certain times. It is also possible to alter suction power, alter modes, view floor plans and maps and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also track its progress and notify you when it's done.

The X40 is easy to clean and has numerous convenient features, making it a great option for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin into a large 3.2 L bin, cleans the mop pads, then refills them with fresh water and cleaning solution. It will also tell you whether the mop pad is at its maximum capacity and notify you of the situation prior to it bursting.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available on the market. It has several characteristics that make it stand out. The mops are equipped with a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. It utilizes two mops that are high-speed to scrub floors more thoroughly than the traditional method, and it has the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also remove pet hair, dirt particles and remove spills and dirty spots.

The mop is also dried and cleaned inside the base station after each use. This is a fantastic feature since it prevents the build-up of mould and unpleasant odours in the storage area, and it also makes the mop system a lot more efficient. It's a system that has yet to be seen on other robot vacuums and mop models, and it could be a great method to keep your home cleaner for longer.

There's a wealth of settings available which include the possibility to schedule cleaning appointments and adjust a number of different preferences.
