Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that vacuum and clean offer the convenience of cleaning dry and wet messes in one session without the need to switch between devices. They can also reduce space when compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot will provide excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that have docks that allow them to automatically empty their bins, fill their water tanks, and wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's among the easiest robots to set up that we've ever tested. Unpacking is simple, and the quick-start guide gets you up and running in no time. You'll have a an entire dust bag, water tank and a hard floor solution.

The S1 Pro is a powerful small machine that can is able to clean up a storm and also vacuums well. The mops spin at high speeds and can apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, allowing for quick removal of pet hair, dirt and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner has four power settings, as well as a selection of brushes and attachments as well as an intuitive app that lets you choose the type of cleaning you want for each room.

You can, for example ask the robot to clean the kitchen and living room thoroughly but leave the spare bedroom alone. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It is able to detect small obstacles that other models cannot. The only problem is that it is known to smash into walls and objects at a high speed. However an inspection of the history of cleaning on the app will tell you exactly what the robot has completed, where it's going, and which obstacles it has stumbled upon or avoided.

A handy LCD screen on the docking station tells the maintenance tasks that are required including emptying the debris tray and washing the water tank that is dirty. It can also mix detergent automatically into the water tank, using a 600ml bottle of eufy's own solution.

Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum have a long running time. The mop is able to run for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode, and the autonomous vacuum can run for 136 minutes in normal mode, prior to having to recharge or returning to the base. You can also view the full cleaning details in the app, which is intuitively laid out and easy to understand, though we would like to be able to distinguish between a vacuum only or a vacuum/mop clean when looking at a clean area in the cleaning history.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's most popular robot vacuum and mop, is the most up-to-date version. It's not like the model from last year it comes with two agitators in its mopping pad, which significantly enhances its carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an enhanced suction power that allows it to remove smaller hairs and other particles other robotic cleaners might miss.

Like the other two Roborock models I've tested the S8 Pro Ultra has a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology which help it avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and includes dual cameras that can detect objects, determining whether they are walls or other surfaces. It then can automatically alter its path and clean around the objects without a pause.

This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed however, it's also the most packed with features. Its sleek, angular design is striking and comes with three physical buttons. The power button, which also restarts the cleaning process mop button, which doubles as a child lock and a home button to send the best robot vacuum cleaner and mop to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid, you will find 350ml of dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank is self-emptying and the bin auto-filling.

The only downside I've found with this model is that its VibraRise mop pad mount isn't movable. It is possible to replace the mopping cloth when required, but it's a challenge to take the mount off for manual washing. I've observed that any carpet that the robot touches will come into contact with the rough Velcro like fastener on mounts, which can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a range of clever features, including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The Roborock app lets you manage and set up these advanced features. It also has maps and advanced mopping options. The app lets you schedule cleanings and monitor the battery's lifespan. However, you'll need to jump through a few hoops to allow voice control with this model, which is a shame considering the quality of its performance.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is an industry leader with innovative features, superior suction power and cutting-edge mowing capabilities. Its clever design permits personalized and efficient cleaning, while reducing time.

The X40 is the first robot vacuum cleaner to provide 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which easily makes it one of the top options available. This powerful vacuum is able to clean up pet hair dust, crumbs and any other dry messes. It comes with a mop of high quality that cleans hard floors without the need for a pad. In addition the X40 is quiet in operation, only producing occasional bursts of sound when switching between modes or performing self-maintenance tasks.

The X40 also has an additional side brush that can be extended and lifted. This allows it to reach into corners that are hard to reach and clean furniture that is curved like table and chair legs. The robot is also able to reach under furniture that is low-profile which makes it a great option for apartments with small spaces or condos. The side brush tilts automatically down when it detects wet spots. This is a great feature that enables the X40 to prevent damage to floors from excessive back-and forth movements.

Contrary to other robots, which are restricted to a single task, the X40 can mop and vacuum simultaneously. It can also be programmed to skip areas with carpets and mop only hard floors or vice versa. It can be controlled by the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure that voice-controlled operations are smooth and easy.

The app is user-friendly and easy to use and the X40's intelligent features are easy to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, alter suction power and mode, see floor plans and maps, and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also track its progress and notify you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy to clean and has numerous convenient features, making it a great option for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin into a large 3.2 L bin, cleans the mop pads, and refills them with clean water and a cleaning solution. It can also detect when the mop pad is overflowing and alert you before it gets overflowing, reducing the necessity for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models on the market. It does have several characteristics that make it stand out. Smart DuoScrub is a brand new feature on its mop heads, makes use of two mop heads that are high-speed to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a maximum suction force of 7,000Pa. This is higher than Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also clean pet hair, dirt particles and pick up spills and dirty spots.

The mop is cleaned and dried at the base station each time they are used. This feature is great as it keeps mould and unpleasant odours from accumulating in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robot mop and vacuum models. It could be a great way to keep your home cleaner longer.

There's a plethora of settings on offer that include the possibility to schedule cleaning appointments and adjust a variety of preferences. These can be set via the app, or via buttons that can be found on the unit itself. The app is easy to use and provides a variety of options for customising the cleaning routine. Additionally, there are numerous features that other robots do not include, such as the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power when it detects dust particles, rather than using a manual setting.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most elegant robots we've seen on market, with metallic and white colors that looks elegant and classy. It's a bit heavier at 4kg than the other robots listed on this list, but it's still not excessively heavy. It is solid and well-built. Mopping is also well-designed and the double-rotating mop is great for hard floors as well as in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to reach even 2mm below the baseboards.
