The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good value for those whose home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and works while you are at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few seconds.

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to remove and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross contamination. Its obstacle detection was great and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something hasn't been seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxes this mop and robot vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our evaluations. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot hoover and mop in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an intuitive mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work, or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. If you're willing some more volume and some extra cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with the amount of dirt they tend to be.

If you own a larger home, it's worth choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be useful if you own a large furniture. Additionally, a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you'd think from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to organize an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app also provides access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It is equipped with an impressive 8000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robotic hoovers vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
