However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work or going to school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's loud which could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and better-looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable, but it's more expensive and make more noise.
