However unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we test the i3+ does not have any obstacle-avoidance features and therefore it could get stuck on things like socks or power cords, and it may have trouble navigating across surface transitions like from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot suggests cleaning the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it might come across. In our testing the i7+ performed quicker and more maneuverable than our second-placed model, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surface types including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which removes major maintenance sources and reduces recurring cost.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines and to move around the room and sweep a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. When connected to these services, we were able give the i7+ voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world filled with vacuums with cords that look like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model is an old-fashioned sports car. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up best Auto vacuum in a majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

It's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, including our top picks, the i3+EVO and j7+ Series. Because of this, it may get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't in good condition, and often will run out of battery before making it back to its home base.

In our tests during our tests, the Jet bot cleaner AI+ performed well on hard floors. It cleaned up 86% of dog hair (on carpet). However, it did not do particularly well in avoiding taller objects like cords and socks which was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than some of the other models we tested and could be a problem for some shoppers.
