After a number of social media posts hinting at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally revealed its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. The latest project, dubbed the Space Key, is a piece created in collaboration with an unknown artist. The NFT is a unique piece of digital art that is accessible via a QR code. The project is limited to five pieces and will be auctioned in the coming weeks.

The Space Key is made of a carbon composite material that Lamborghini, as part of a research project in 2019 sent to the International Space Station. The carbon fiber was crafted into a unique artwork after it returned to Earth. The physical component has an NFT serial code that ties to the digital image via QR code on the back.

NFTs, for those who aren't familiar are unique identifiers that are stored on a distributed ledger of the blockchain and linked to an digital asset such as a photograph or video, song, or other record. This enables owners to guarantee the authenticity, scarcity and the traceability of their tokens on the internet.

Lamborghini is taking this unique approach to art a step further by collaborating with NFT PRO - an white label NFT solution for business. Over the next few weeks Lamborghini will reveal details about the exciting project including the name of the unknown artist and a timetable for the auction.

After numerous social media posts teasing some kind of space key Lamborghini-themed item, the Italian supercar manufacturer Lamborghini entered the world non-fungible (NFT) tokens with an exclusive project dubbed Space Key. The NFT was developed in collaboration with a mysterious artist and will go on auction within a couple of weeks. It is a piece that's made of the latest carbon fiber composite material that was shipped to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2019 as part of an experiment. Carbon fiber was 3D printed for the base of each Space Key. Each Space Key is linked to an exclusive digital image via the QR code. Just five Space Keys have been produced.

NFTs are unique identifiers that are recorded on distributed ledgers, such as the Blockchain and linked to digital assets like images. It's a hot topic with people who have more money than they have common sense. So it was only a matter of time until automakers decided to take advantage of.

After months of posts on social media hints at it, luxury automobile manufacturer Lamborghini has finally revealed its first non-fungible token (NFT) project. It's dubbed the Space Key, it consists of five physical items that unlock an exclusive digital art work NFT by a yet-to-be-identified artist. The collectors' item was developed in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm) and is limited to only five units. It will be auctioned shortly.

Each Space Key contains a block composed of a carbon-fire composite material, which was sent to the International Space Station as part of a 2019 research program. After returning to Earth it was engraved with the QR code which links it to the digital element of the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that occurs at different times when the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. Over 600 million pixels make up each of the five images that were taken by photographer Fabian Oefner.

Oefner utilized an inflatable camera with a lens to capture individual images, which were later assembled into the final photograph. The result is an out of this world photograph that captures both the beauty of the Earth as well as the futuristic, hyper-realistic image of the car rising away from it. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned off in the near future, but there isn't a specific date or time yet.
