Like the WH-1000XM4s prior to it, the Sony WH-1000XM5's touch controls allow you to control the playback of music and make phone calls. You can swipe forwards and backwards on the touchpad to skip tracks, or move backwards to play and pause. The power and volume buttons are located on the right ear cup.

If you have an iPhone and an iPhone, you can personalize the headphones using Siri commands and get access to other features like personal assistants, a sleep timer and battery meter.
