Reasons Why Your Nissan Qashqai Key Fob Won't Work

The Qashqai has a distinct SUV feel to it thanks to its bigger dimensions, and the ride on 19-inch wheels in Ti and ST-L models can be a bit firm at times. The front tyres may lose grip on rough surfaces and its CVT may occasionally exhibit wrist-flexing torque steer.

This is usually caused by a dead battery, which can be replaced in just a few minutes. Make sure the new battery is of the same size, voltage and specifications.

Water Damage

Water damage is one of the most common reasons for the Nissan keyfob to display the "key ID is incorrect" message. The key fob has rubber seals which protect the chip inside. However, prolonged exposure to moisture can cause it not to function properly. This is typically the case if you've dropped your key fob into the ocean or into a swimming pools, but it could also happen if it gets wet due to rain or soapy hands.

If your key fob is exposed to water for an extended period of time, it could need to be cleaned using isopropyl alcohol or electronic cleaner. It might also need to be sent to a specialist for repair or replacement.

Dead Coin Battery

The coin battery is a second common reason for why your Nissan Qashqai remote key fob may not work. They last for three to five years, but are prone to failure over time when the fob is dropped often. You can replace the battery however, make sure it's the same voltage and the same size as the first. If you choose to use another battery, it may cause the key to have an invalid key ID which could prevent it from connecting to your vehicle.
