After a string of social media posts that hint at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally announced its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. It's called Space Key and developed in collaboration with an unknown artist, it is based on a piece of advanced carbon fiber composite material that was delivered to the International Space Station for research purposes.

At the center of each Space Key is a block made of the most advanced carbon fire composite material that was shipped to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a research program. After returning to Earth, the block was inscribed with a QR code that links to the digital component in the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that occurs at different times as the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. Each of the five images was filmed by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.

Oefner employed an inflatable camera that had a lens to capture individual images, which were then combined into the final photo. The result is a truly out of this world image that reveals the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyper-realistic look of the car rising from it. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned off in the near future, but there's no precise date or time yet.
