We consulted Ladina Schopf - interior designer, architect and founder of LS Projects - for her tips on how to select the best one. We looked at the storage capacity, layout, and energy efficiency among other aspects.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Like the name suggests, GE's Profile series is geared towards the consumer who wants to incorporate cutting-edge features into their kitchen. The refrigerator is brimming with them, from an in-the-door Keurig K-cup coffee maker to a sophisticated water dispenser. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Given that this fridge costs a premium, I expect better.

This fridge is a good choice, despite the blip. It has a large freezer compartment, which is uncommon in counter-depth freestanding french door Refrigerator freezer 90Cm 569l ice & water door refrigerators. Furthermore, it can hold a decent amount of frozen foods in comparison to similar models.

The fridge is equipped with 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment offers 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is on the same as an French door refrigerator that costs this much. It also has a decent sized ice maker that is tucked away in the left-hand door, although it's not the largest I've seen.

You can adjust the shelves in both compartments to make a custom storage solution. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is good-looking, too. The LED lighting is a nice touch and the inside storage bins have a third shelf that folds down to make it possible to store tall items. The drawers come with temperature controls that allow you to set them to Meat, Beverage or Deli settings. The drawers are simple to open and close, but I found the plastic's textured coatings a bit hard on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator includes all the features you'd expect from a refrigerator in this price range. It has Wi-Fi, app support and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app, which is available for iOS and Android devices allows you to control your refrigerator from anywhere in the world, and offers numerous options for customization. It also sends you notifications when the door is left unlocked, when the fridge or freezer requires defrosting, and when the filter has to be changed.

It would be great if GE PYE22PYNFS could offer Precise Fill which is a feature that is available in a few GE refrigerators that allows users to select the number of cups they would like to pour out. The fridge displays a countdown to display how much water remains but it's not as useful as Precise fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Designed to look like a seamless part of your kitchen, Bosch's french style fridge freezers-door refrigerator is a standout. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also features a veggie compartment which keeps vegetables and fruits fresher for longer and two compressors to preserve food items. The ice maker is one of the most efficient we've ever tested, and it produces a pyramid-shaped form of Ice with low water usage. This refrigerator is ideal for a single household or a kitchenette with an elegant design and top of the line food preservation.

This fridge was rated as the top in our Refrigerators Test for several reasons. The freezer temperatures remained steady at just a few degrees Fahrenheit, never changing more than a fraction an inch. This is essential to avoiding freezing burn. The fridge section of the fridge also performed well, achieving the desired initial set temperature within a matter of hours and keeping that temperature steady over the course of our tests.

Bosch is known for its top-quality appliances. Therefore, it's no surprise that Bosch's counter depth fridge Bosch counter depth refrigerator can be connected to your home Wi Fi and Bosch's platform Home Connect. The app allows you to control and monitor the refrigerator remotely using your tablet or smartphone. The fridge is expensive, however it has excellent features and functionality for the cost.

Its capacity is above average for counter-depth models, and it cools evenly. It's also less expensive than the top counter depth refrigerator with an icemaker, which makes it a great option.

This feature can be adjusted by using a slider on the outside of the drawer. You can also set the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've found that the general settings work better than the specific ones.

In my tests, the temperatures of the refrigerator stayed fairly consistent across different areas of the fridge. The temperatures in the top, bottom and middle of the fridge didn't differ much from 38 degrees. This is a great performance however it doesn't rank among the best in our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. The fridge can be linked with a smart thermostat in order to obtain more precise readings of the internal temperature of your fridge.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's exterior is constructed of grey-bodied stainless steel which has a "smudge-proof" finish. It wards off streaks and fingerprints better than other stainless steel finishes I've tried.
