The Scout RX3 impressed us in our test of how well it cleaned baking powder around corners and baseboards. Its suction power of 2,500Pa was a little weaker than some other robots, but it moved quickly and was very quiet. It didn't mop, and its clean pad was a challenge to attach. It also couldn't handle dried-on dirt.

Its app is on the basic side and lacks features such as multiple cleaning modes and automated vacuum scheduling. It is compatible with Alexa but its voice controls don't seem to be very intuitive or responsive. Also, it's a bit unreliable when it comes returning to the charging station following running other robots are able to trace a previous path or even follow a wall around until they reach their destination, but the RX3 is a fumbler until it gives up and sends a failure message to your phone.

Another issue we had was with its smart features, specifically the mapping function and digital keep-out zones. While it did a decent job of avoiding our furniture legs and shoes but it could easily be stuck by cables and socks and couldn't handle the tassels that adorn carpets. We decided not to include the Scout RX3 in our Best Buy list. The Scout RX3 offers a good price and impressive performance. It's worth considering as an alternative to uprights that are traditionally used.
