It is important to be equipped with the right tools on hand when you are out in the field. This kit was created with this in mind and includes all the basic hand tools required for repairing items on the field. All of the tools are made from steel with a minimum of plastic to ensure they will stand up to use. The kit comes with a canvas zippered pouch for coalcracker tools, a reamer, twist awls, cutting shears and gimlets (5MM). It also comes with a bottle of coalcracker oil with illustrated instructions and a wooden spool an reamer, and a twist an awl.

Repair Patches

If you've got a hole or two in your gear, consider adding some adhesive patches to your Avon Rep Starter Kit kit. These patches are made of an ultra-high-performance adhesive that is applied to a durable polyurethane backing that allows a tear to heal under pressure. Available in clear or colored versions, these patches provide durability against punctures, moisture sunlight, saltwater and temperatures that are extreme.

If your kit isn't stocked with any of the above items, consider adding a bag of waterproof Aquaseal wader repair sealant. This water-tight adhesive will bond to fabrics and metals to provide permanent repair. It's great for repairing drysuits and may be applied while out in the field. Allow the sealant to dry for up to 12 hours prior using the repaired equipment.

The essential field fabric repair kit for nylon tents that have silicone impregnated, Avon Rep Starter Kit packs, rainwear and more. This avon kit includes one Clean Tape patch and a sil-nylon repair swatch as well as a 1/4 ounce tube of Gore-Tex Silfix repair adhesive and sealant as well as a brush. Apply patch to clean smooth, flat surface. Make sure there is a minimum of 1/2 inch overlap. Remove release paper from patch surface and rub it with moderate finger pressure (adhesive side down).

Surface preparation is essential for successful repairs. Sunblock, acetone, or oils on boots and shoes can alter adhesion. Use Seam Grip with Cotol 240 Cure Accelerator for best results.

Adhesive patches

These patches are great for those who don't wish to be waiting until they are back on the trail. Apply the self-adhesive patch and apply it to the saddle.

Use the tube-scuffer for roughening up the surface. This will help the glue stick. Spread a thin layer on the patch. Cover the area with a layer that is at least as big as the patch. Wait for the glue to become tacky, then press the patch down with a firm pressure and hold it in place.

This kit includes two adhesive-backed, clear Tenacious Tape fabric repair patches. It also comes with a 1/4 ounce Seam Grip urethane sealant and repair adhesive. Perfect for reinforcing damaged sleeping bags, rainwear, and packs.
