A robot sweeper vacuum will keep the floors clean enough to cut down on the frequency with which you'll need to manually vacuum. Look for one that offers good navigation, can clean stairs and corners and has a huge dust bin that requires emptying only once in a while.

There are models that clean and charge themselves, a feature that may be important for people with children or pets. Many of the best performers in our tests have excellent obstacles to avoid.

1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling, the i3 EVO are the same robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. The i3+ is an excellent alternative for those who want a an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the robot's dustbin once it gets full.

Both robots do well cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors, and they are very good at maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home to help the i3+ navigate and clean efficiently. The i3+ doesn't have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or other top-rated robots we test. It could get stuck on power cords or socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces like rug and hardwood.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it might encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clear so they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is low, it returns to its docking station, automatically empties its trash into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning the area where it left off. Battery life is about an hour and a half of continuous usage. It takes about three hours to charge.

2. Roomba from iRobot

The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line and comes with the latest technology. It's self-charging and self-navigating. But the most significant feature is its self-emptying bin. This removes the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ is able to map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can control your robot through the app or voice.

In our tests the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our second-placed model and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin that eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot vacuum sale to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions and also to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. Once connected we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a world of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy, which produces power without fading for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system removes allergens, and then releases clean air back into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and pick up large dust or crumbs. It comes with three suction modes to suit the task being performed. It swiftly switches from handheld vacuum to automatic floor cleaners vacuum and back.

The model also comes with an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in about 3.5 hours, and gives users easy access to two attachments as well as a Wand clip. This is a major improvement over previous Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's biggest drawback is its limited run time. As CR's tests show, its claims to run up to 60 minutes are not true. This is a standard battery-powered cordless automatic vacuum cleaners's run time. This is enough time to vacuum the typical home but not enough to get into every corner. (A second pass generally works). This doesn't mean that this model doesn't have its advantages It's lighter and more maneuverable than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming efficiency is superior on carpets with a low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's an excellent choice for those who don't have lots of money to spend on an expensive robot. It's capable of sucking up a variety of kinds of debris in our testing, and it frequently goes over the same areas multiple times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front allows it to reach corners and the edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and guide you through your home. However, it isn't equipped with the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, such as our top picks, the i3+EVO and J7+ Series. Because of this, it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't as sturdy, and frequently is power-depleted before making it back to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694 because it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, incurs lower cost of recurring costs, has more advanced automation abilities and is better able to maneuver its own. It also has a larger dustbin and charges quicker.

The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of purposes, as it has a better battery life, has the ability to alter the suction power mode by hand, comes with physical boundary strips, and is controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It's also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and can perform better on low-pile and bare floors.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a brand you see on all sorts of electronic gadgets for your home So it's no surprise that they're also one of the most popular robotic vacuum and mop makers. Jet Bot AI+ has a cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app gives you plenty of options to customize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior adjustments, docking frequency settings, and much more. The app is easy to learn and use, just like other Samsung devices.

In our tests in our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and removed 86% of dog hair (on carpet). However, it wasn't particularly well in avoiding taller objects like cords and socks, which was disappointing. It's priced higher than other models that we tested, and this could be a deal breaker for certain shoppers.

The app allows you to access the onboard camera of the smart robot vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's cleaning area. You can also check the status of the vacuum and connect it to its dock for charging with the touch of a single button. The app lets you alter the LED lights on the top of the vacuum to tell where it is focused or if it has gotten stuck.

The app also makes it simple to steer the robot manually should you need to. My living room rug, for instance, has a darkly-colored border which could cause a problem for other robots.
