1. Roomba j7+ iRobot from iRobot.

The Roomba j7+ is iRobot's most intelligent robot vacuum to date. Its biggest advancement is an obstacle detection system that utilizes built-in AI to detect objects such as charging cords, shoes and the dreaded pet waste that many other robots are unable to avoid (and often slough through). It's also the first robot to automatically send you a picture of the object it comes across to let you know to stay clear of it in the future.

The Combo j7+ is also the best robot to mop we've ever tested, removing spills and dirt effortlessly and leaving no trace that it was there. It's easy to control using the iRobot Home app that lets you schedule cleaning and create Keep Out Zones to ensure it doesn't vacuum areas you don't want it to. It's compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant so you can start it and stop it with a voice.

The design is also more appealing than the competition. It features an elegant, top piece that appears like a toy rather than an obnoxious and loud robot. In our tests, we discovered that the j7+ was quick to eliminated dirt, dust and hair from pets. The counter-rotating rubber brush roll kept the debris in one spot rather than sending it scattering around the automatic floor cleaners. It even managed to capture sand and small gravel, which most other robots aren't able to do. It did all this without getting caught in our pet's shedding hair.

The iRobot Home App is easy to use but we found it less reliable than other robotic cleaner apps. It can take a while to download updates and it can be difficult to determine if they are functioning until you actually witness them in action.

2. Roborock Q5+

If you're looking for a robotic vacuum cleaner that can do more than just clean your floors, a hybrid is the best choice. This kind of robot floor cleaner usually includes a built-in water tank which means they can mop and vacuum your home simultaneously. They also have a number of additional features, such as smart mapping, small obstacle avoidance, and even the capability to wash and dry mopping pads. The downside is that they can be expensive at retail, but during Black Friday and Cyber Monday they often drop in price.

Roborock makes some of our favorite robot vacuums and the Q5+ is no exception. This is the least expensive model of their auto-empty line. Although it might not have some of the more premium features (like no-go zones and multi-story memories), it's still an excellent option if you are willing to make some compromises to save a few bucks.

The Q5+ is remarkably soft when it comes to obstacles like tables and walls. This makes it a great choice for homes that have lots of furniture. It's also extremely thorough when it comes to getting rid of dust bunnies which is an area which many robot vacuums be a bit sloppy. The navigation technology in the Q5+ is fantastic as well, with only a few missed corners and along walls.

The Q5+, like other Roborock products can be controlled with a few buttons on the device or through the Roborock App. The app lets you start and stop cleaning, set schedules, create virtual barriers and no-go zones and alter your home map, or change the labeling of rooms.

If you opt for the Q5+ model, it comes with a brand new auto emptying dock that is designed to make this robot easier to maintain. It requires a screwdriver install, but once in place, emptying the bin is easy. It also comes with an impressive LCD display which is great to have when creating schedules or changing settings. This isn't a necessity for everyone but it will aid in keeping track of the intervals between maintenance for your robot easily.

3. Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra is a well-rounded robot vacuum and mop that's impressively intelligent in its mopping and vacuuming capabilities. Its design is one of the best in the industry however it's quite expensive.

It's a small base station that looks great and is able to be concealed when not in use. The station's most appealing point is how it automates various tasks and functions that other robots leave to you. It can keep clean and dirty water and electrolyze and heat the water. Many other robots require you to perform this.

Its vacuuming capabilities are impressive as well. It's the only robovacs that I've tried that does an excellent job of collecting debris from plain floors, and is not as loud as the more expensive Roomba 980 or iRobot the 900 series.

But the Freo X Ultra has its faults, especially in terms of navigation. Its LiDAR and laser sensors aren't as reliable as other robovacs, which means it sometimes gets stuck or confused in certain areas of your home. It's also unable to climb stairs as well as other models and doesn't come with a dock that can create a clean zone for carpets with plush padding.

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a great choice for those who need a robot vacuum that does it all.

But if you want to save money or don't want to think about the limitations of this robotic, there are plenty of other options on the market, including a lot of eufy models priced considerably less. The Eufy Qrevo Curv, for instance is less expensive and provides an identical experience on the app with additional features such as the ability to climb stairs, a full-function dock, and better overall performance when vacuuming floors and low and high-pile carpets.

4. Eufy RoboVac G30

eufy, an Anker company has a proven track record of producing robot vacuum cleaner industrial vacuums that strike the right balance between features, performance and price. The G30 Hybrid is no different, offering a capable cleaning on hard floors and carpets and mopping function too at a reasonable price. It's easy to set it up, just connect one of the side brush and turn it on, then plug in your charging dock. The app walks you through the steps needed to connect it to Wi-Fi, and the G30 is ready to go. The dock must be placed close to an outlet that has plenty of room to move.

The G30 is a tiny device that measures 2.85 inches in height, which means it will fit under most couches and low-clearance pieces furniture. Its design is a little less flashy than some of the rival models, and features sleek black finishes and three buttons that are physical such as Auto Cleaning start/pause, Recharge, and Spot Cleaning (which scrubs a space in an arc for two minutes). You can also connect the G30 to Amazon Alexa or Google Home to use voice commands to do routine cleaning tasks that are not scheduled.

The primary characteristic that makes the G30 apart from most competitors is the way it cleans. It uses a built-in map to create an image of immovable objects in its path and then keeps track of what it has already cleaned and what it isn't able to access. It will return to the base to recharge and continues cleaning where it left off.

The sleek G30 isn't without its faults, though. The iRobot Roomba is built better and has lower cost of operation. It charges faster, offers a similar battery life, and performs better on unfinished carpet or floors with low pile. It also comes with a larger dust bin that doesn't require to be emptied as often and comes with the boundaries to ensure it isn't in certain areas. The G30 is, however, is more affordable and is much simpler to maintain. Its smaller dust container doesn't need emptying as often and it has less trouble with bulky materials like cereal.
