Robot vacuums and mops are becoming more capable. They have passed our tests for cleaning, and can handle a variety of floors. Look for models that allow you to choose from a variety of modes, and use their charging docks to automatically empty, and clean up the stairs.

A lot of the top models are compatible with smartphones. Find an app that allows you to save maps, schedules and select cleaning modes.

1. Eufy Omni S1 Pro

The gloss black and gunmetal Omni S1 Pro from Eufy is among the most impressive mop and robot autonomous vacuum combos available. It uses lidar to navigate, and create maps of floors and rooms (even multiple levels) and integrates with the free Eufy Clean application that lets you set up schedules and modify the S1's behavior.

The S1 was able to map my downstairs quickly, which has linoleum in the kitchen, dining area, and bathrooms, as well as large rugs and a medium-pile. It was able to drive close to walls without crashing into them and even managed to drive across thresholds for rooms that are raised without problem, but it sometimes was unable to navigate down stairs in a single pass. The S1 also did an excellent job of cleaning hard floors, with its mop driving smoothly on its flat side against the floor and then lifting itself when it was near carpet or rugs.

The docking station of the S1 automatically empties its trash bin and fills its onboard water tank with clean, ozonated water before every mopping session. The dock adds an extra-deep cleaning solution to the water. The S1's water tank can hold enough water for around twelve cleaning sessions before it needs to be cleaned, although this can vary based on how often you use the mop.

The S1 requires periodic maintenance, just like other 2-in-1 robots. To do this, you'll need to wash the water tank that is dirty regularly to avoid it from clogging. Also, you'll need to clean the swivel wheels and sensors frequently to avoid them from becoming clogged with dust or dirt. Overall, the S1 is easy to maintain, particularly compared to other models that require more care.

2. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo Complete

Ecovacs' all-in-one robotic vacuum and mop provides an effective solution to your cleaning needs. The Ecovacs robot vacuum has 8700Pa of suction and comes with many innovative features, including full home mapping, voice control, and smart path-planning to avoid obstacles and cleans around furniture. Its mopping capability is impressive. Rotating mop heads actually lift the floor and scrub it, rather than just drag a pad across a surface. The mops are also cleaned and dried in the base station when required.

The robot is simple to install and use, with a simple interface that walks you through the procedure. It comes with an electric hand vacuum that can be recharged for those hard-to-reach areas that the robot isn't able to reach and two water tanks that are automatically empty and filled when needed. It comes with a variety of useful settings that allow you to fine tune your cleaning preferences.

The Deebot X2 Combo Complete is a great vacuum cleaner. It has a powerful suction that is able to effortlessly remove dirt and other debris that other robots have trouble with. Its navigation abilities are also pretty good, although it could get stuck on small area mats and rugs at my home (which you can alleviate by defining virtual boundaries in the app). Its mopping is quite good as well, with two spinning mop heads that actually lift and scrub floors, instead of simply dragging the pad over it. The mops are also cleaned with heated water, and dried in the basestation as required. The mops are also replenished at the top of the station when needed.

3. Dreame X40 ultra

Dreame's X30 Ultra robot vacuum and mop was released earlier this year. However, their latest flagship model is packed with impressive features. It has outstanding cleaning performance and hands-free maintenance which makes it a strong contender on our top mop and best robot cleaner vacuum list. Its superior mapping capabilities, RGB AI smart detection, and an expanded side brush ensure a thorough, customized clean is achieved.

The X40 Ultra vacuums well, getting rid of both large and fine debris. It is equally effective on carpets and hard floors. It also cleaned our test's most filthy areas well, and avoiding tangled pet hairs and other mess. The sweeping performance of the machine is enhanced by a sidebrush that moves out to reach areas that are difficult to reach, and a mop pad that extends along baseboards.

Its navigation system is nimble it can navigate through small spaces and negotiating stairways without stepping back. It is able to move from one room to the next without needing to reverse the direction. This is useful for large homes with multiple rooms. Its obstacle avoidance system is less advanced than some competitors and leaves a large margin over obstacles. This can result in missing spots.

The app is streamlined and intuitive interface that will be easy to use for both new and experienced users. The app lets you schedule and control cleanings. You can also adjust suction power, mop setting, and view 2D and 3-D maps. You can control it via the app, Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also use the X40 Ultra's camera remotely to get live video surveillance. However, you will need a stable Wi-Fi connection to operate it via the app and external controls.

4. Roomba Q5 Pro

A robot vacuum can do a fantastic job of picking up dirt and debris however, it's not able to get every last particle of dust. It's important to vacuum regularly, once a week. This is particularly important for dust that builds up in corners, on shelves, and in crevices in your couch. Roborock's Q5 Pro is a 2-in-1 vacuum and mop robot that was designed specifically for this purpose. It is simple to connect to your home Wi-Fi network and works with Alexa or Apple Siri.

The Q5 is an edgier version of the company's expensive S-series models. It includes the top-of-the-line Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra. It is equipped with a similar LIDAR mapping sensor, but it saves price by eliminating the mopping functionality and by using a lower-cost plastic body.

The Q5 is one of the most powerful mopping and vacuums we've seen at this price, even though it's not equipped to wipe your floor. It has powerful 5500Pa suction and an auto-empty system so you don't have to empty the bin manually every time. It also has a clever app that lets you select your floor type and schedule cleanings. It also has an automatic vacuum and mop water tank refill and wash system to allow hands-free operation.

Its mops are also awe-inspiring, with 2700Pa of power to tackle dust, dirt and pet hair on hard floors and carpets. The Q5 was one of the few robots we tested to not have problems with high-pile rugs and carpets. However, it could not remove kitty-poop or cable tangles. This isn't surprising, since it does NOT have AI-powered obstacle-avoidance features.

5. K10 Plus

K10 Plus is one of the quietest robot vacuums we have tested, it also has a unique method to map your home, which really helps it get into the corners and tight spaces that other vacuums cannot reach. The K10 Plus also is able to collect more dust in a larger bin, so you don't have to empty it as frequently. Additionally, it has washable filters which further reduces the costs associated with using the device. This robot can detect carpets and increase suction if necessary.
