The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's top-of-the-line robot autonomous vacuum and mop is the most up-to-date version. Unlike last year's model it comes with a double agitator in its mopping pad, which significantly improves its carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has enhanced suction power, which allows it to pick up fine hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners may be unable to pick up.

The Roborock model, just like the other two I tested, has infrared and reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it overcome obstacles like walls, furniture, and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and includes two cameras that can recognize objects, determining whether they're walls or other surfaces. It then can automatically alter its path and clean them without missing a beat.

It's the most expensive model I've tried, but it also has the most features. Its sleek, angular style is striking and has just three physical buttons: the power button, which can also restart cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock; and a home button that can bring the robot back to its dock. The hinged lid opens to reveal a 350ml dustbin as well as a 200ml water tank. The water tank is self-emptying and the bin is auto-filling.

The only issue I have found with this model is that its VibraRise mop pad mount isn't movable. While you can replace the mopping cloth (if necessary), it's a pain to remove the mount to wash it manually. It also has maps and advanced mopping options. The app allows you to plan cleanings and monitor the battery's life. You'll need to go through a few steps to enable voice control on this model. This is a shame considering how efficient it is otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

This is significantly higher than that of the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can clean pet hair and smaller dirt particles and also pick up spills and wet spots.

The mop mops are cleaned and dried at the base station every time they are used. This is a great feature because it prevents the growth of mould and unpleasant odours in storage, and also makes mop systems more efficient. This is an option we haven't seen on other robot mop and vacuum models. It could be a great method to keep your home clean longer.

There's an impressive amount of options available that include the ability to schedule cleaning and adjust a number of different preferences. It's a little heavier than some of the other two-in-one robots on this list, at 4kg however it's not overly heavy, and it feels sturdy and well-built. The mopping design is also excellent, and the double rotating mop works well on hard floors and in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to reach even 2mm below the baseboards.
