286708_Volvo_Iron_Mark.jpg?How to Replace an audi car key case G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician shows how to replace audi key fob the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. The sensor is located near the transmission's edge just above the flywheel gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via the grey wire T55/49 and then to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated on the outside of the transmission, directly above the flywheel ring. This sensor sends a signal via the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU uses this information to control fuel and boost. It also sends an alert to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to connect with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must know when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is located so that it can start spark and injectors in the right way.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error message. This means that the Crank Shaft is not in sync with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate the possibility of a chain stretch or jump in the chain link of the upper chain of timing. However, the error code won't be displayed on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

Testing is a bit tricky since there are two connector pins, and they serve different purposes but the most effective method of testing it is to measure resistance between the sensor and the ECU. If the sensor is operational, it should read approximately 1000 ohms. If you are having problems with this component, look for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating from the highway paytoll at full speed, i noticed a huge reduction in power. It was like the engine had run out of gas. Or my injectors were not firing. In the morning, i removed the spark plugs, 3 were drenched with gazoline the fourth was dry. When I crank the engine, there are no sparks i put tissue on the top of each of the injector holes, the 3 drenched with gazoline leap out, however the 4th stay shut. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I found zero ohm. Therefore, i think the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID with no success. The car can start when the G28 is disconnected and is running fine when it is connected however it has the intermittent misfire issue at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temp value -49c, even if I unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars while the actual pressure is zero.

I don't know what to do. I feel like i've pretty much eliminated everything else. But i'm worried that I may have missed something. If anyone has suggestions, please share them! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump of the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 sender and both work on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily find the spare in a salvage shop or a parts store. It is simple to test them - simply put your DMM into resistance mode and determine the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump on the connector's edge facing upwards). They should be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY and ADU) engines are equipped with an ECU that has to know the speed and kmbfamily.net position of the crankshaft in order to make a decision about timing of the fuel injector, for example. To accomplish this, it makes use of a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If either of these go bad you will get codes on the diagnostic scanner that could cause engine shut down.

A malfunctioning G28 sensor could result in an inaccurate gearbox speed counter or a gearbox that shifts more quickly than normal, and/or a misfire while in gear. It is possible that your sensor modoosol.com is failing and needs to be replaced if you encounter any of these symptoms. The good thing is that they are quite affordable and easily accessible particularly in the case of a Bosch sensor, like ours. You can also choose the GM version of this part is also a great option.

5. Tachometer

A faulty engine speed sensor could be a cause for numerous issues in your car. It is an important part of the transmission in your audi advanced key since it sends information to the ECU on how fast or slow the engine is spinning. When this sensor fails, it can disrupt the performance of the transmission, as well as the other car's components.

The G5 engine sensor is located at the edge of the transmission, over the flywheel ring. It transmits an electrical signal through a gray wire to the ECU pin T55/49. The ECU then uses and processes the signal to control the flow of fuel, timig and boost as well as transmitting it to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster. You can test for sensor failure by examining the continuity from the sensor to the tachometer. Also, you can examine the continuity between pins T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 and pin T26a/12. You should see an average resistance of 1000 ohms between these points. This is a common part that is found across the audi key replacement 80, 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC through the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU, so the best parts could be found in wrecking yards.
